Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of November 7, 2016

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Because it is Election Day, there will be no Family Laptime programs on Tuesday, November 8.  Normal Laptime activities will resume on Tuesday, November 15. Ellwood City Christmas Parade

The annual Ellwood City Christmas Parade will march down Lawrence Avenue Saturday, December 3 at 3:30. The parade will start at the intersection of 4th Street and Lawrence Avenue and end at the intersection of 8th Street and Lawrence Avenue. Staging will take place in the Holy Redeemer School parking lot. Participants are encouraged to arrive before 2:45 and enter the lot at Crescent Avenue and 3rd Street.  Parents may drop off their children on Crescent Avenue between 3rd Street and 4th Street. Art is a valuable component to learning and development; it not only allows for an enjoyable experience, but it favors the ability to creatively think. Ellwood City Municipal Woman’s 30th Annual Christmas House Tour

The Gazebo located at Five Points in Ewing Park is a result of the Municipal Woman’s Club member’s efforts. It is maintained and cared for by the Municipal Woman’s Club. Often, it is used for wedding and graduation photographs, for meetings, and as a rest area for many people who walk in the park area. Through its Gazebo project, the Municipal Woman’s Club has demonstrated its leadership, dedication, and interest in the Ellwood City Community. Local Family Urges Community Members to Help Save Lives in Honor of Murdered Son

November 15, 2016, will be the third anniversary proceeding the murder of a local man, Richard Hogue. He was fatally shot by Leon Platt after Platt took offense to something Hogue said in the early hours of the morning on November 16, 2013. At the time of his death, Hogue he was only 28 years old. Sign up for Wampum Christmas Parade Treat Bags

Sign-up for ‘Treat Bags from Santa’ begins Friday Nov 4th at the Wampum Boro Bldg.  As in past years, the Wampum Christmas Parade begins at 1 PM on the first Saturday in December.  Immediately following the Parade, children who are registered go to the Wampum Gymnasium to visit Santa and Mrs. Clause and receive a treat bag.   Treats are free for Wampum area residents and cost $7 per bag for those outside the area.  Treats must be ordered and paid for ahead of time. It’s that time of the year again, EllwoodCity.org is having our annual Halloween Contest. Submissions begin TODAY, and go on through end-of-business hours on Nov. 3.
