BC3 Cultural Center: Free Concert, Free Ice Cream and Cool Art

(Butler, PA) The Cultural Center at Butler County Community College will provide Graeter’s Ice Cream free to those attending the Pittsburgh Philharmonic’s free performance Aug. 13, an overture that will give guests a taste of Succop Theater’s fall 2017 Performing Artists series. Visitors can also view 35 oil paintings in the Mary Hulton Phillips Art Gallery during the opening of an exhibit by Doreen Currie, a Latrobe resident who studied under BC3 instructor David Ludwick in 2005 and 2006. Adult Dance at Ewing Park Pool

The Ellwood City Borough Council Parks and Recreation Committee will be hosting the first Adult Dance at the Ewing Park Pool. The Committee has hosted a youth dance for the past two years and decided it would be a nice change to host an adult dance. “We decided to host the adult dance to give the older residents something to do, while also promoting our parks facilities – we are one of the few remaining local communities that still have a public swimming pool.” Judy Dici, a committee member stated. “Waylon’s Story” Benefit

Waylon DelBoverlando is a two year old who suffers from a rare autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disease called Mucopolysaccharidosis, also known as Sanfilippo Syndrome. Caused by a deficiency in one of the enzymes needed to break down the glycosaminoglycan heparan sulfate, those affected suffer most from neurological symptoms. VIDEO: Blue Jeans Celebrates Fifth Birthday at Living Treasures

Today, a crowd of zoo-goers wished Blue Jeans, one of the giraffes at Living Treasures Moraine, a Happy Birthday and presented her a birthday treat. Living Treasures is known for their exotic animal encounters and occasional events like this; they recently celebrated their “Christmas in July” event where the animals received Christmas-themed treats and activities throughout the day. Join the birthday celebration and wish Blue Jeans a happy birthday today at the park, which will be open until 8p.m. this evening. Ellwood City Storytelling Festival Scheduled

The Ellwood City Storytelling Festival, a free event, will be held on September 16 from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Ewing Park. The festival is a beloved community event that features free activities for children and professional storytellers. This year’s theme “Into the Woods” will feature many tales. The storytelling stage will feature the talent of Tim Hartman, Bill Pate, Jocelyn Dabney, Mike Perry, and Lisa Hollingsworth-Segedy. Art On The Avenue Expected To Be a Hit

Judging by how well last year’s Author Fair went, library director Veronica Pacella expects Art on the Avenue to be just as popular. “It was such a hit last year, everyone had a great time. We had upwards of 250 people attend the Author Fair last year, the library was so crowded I couldn’t even get to all of the authors to speak with them because they always had a crowd around their table,” Pacella said. “We had 25 authors last year and we will have 28 artists this year – so we expect an even bigger crowd.” Art on…


Franklin Township’s 5th Annual Community Day National Night Out

Franklin Township is hosting their 5th annual Community Day National Night Out Event on Tuesday, August 1, from 6-9p.m. in the Franklin Plaza. There will be free children activities including face painting, balloon twisting, bounce house, inflatable slide, at petting zoo. There will also be fire safety training, CPR instruction, food vendors, and Iceburgh from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
