PHOTOS: LHS 2021 Graduation

After a rain cancellation caused Lincoln High School to move their graduation day, the Class of 2021 finally got to accept their diplomas. The Class of 2021, along with friends and family, all gathered together on Monday at Helling Stadium to see the students receive their diplomas. Even though the rain was still there on the big day, that didn’t stop the graduates from walking across the stage and getting the diplomas that they all worked so hard for. Lincoln High Senior Receives The Holy Redeemer Social Club Scholarship

Emily Borroni, a senior at Lincoln High School was awarded the Holy Redeemer Social Club Scholarship on May 24th at the organization’s monthly meeting. Emily, the daughter of Jeff and Stephanie Borroni of Ellwood City, was presented with the award by President John Pansera. The $1,000.00 scholarship is presented to a graduation senior and member of the parish who provides superior service to her parish, community and school. Emily is an Altar Server at Holy Redeemer where she was also chosen to assist the training of new servers. She also worked the bazaars and Festival in the Park events. Her…

Riverside Class of 2021 Set to Graduate Friday

Riverside High School Class of 2021 is set to graduate 110 seniors. Graduation will be Friday, June 4th at 6:00 p.m. at the Riverside football field. Rain date is Saturday, June 5th at noon. DATE CHANGE: Lincoln High School Seniors Set To Celebrate 2021 Commencement

UPDATES: June 3rd, 2:21 p.m. – According to the Lincoln High School guidance offices, the commencement ceremony schedule for Thursday evening has been cancelled & postponed until Monday, June 7, 2021. The Lincoln High School graduating Class of 2021 will receive their diplomas Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.  The commencement will take place at Helling Stadium in Ewing Park. Lincoln High School will be graduating 128 students this year. Among the 128 students, 17 will be graduating with highest honors. Riverside To Start Summer Meal Program

The Riverside cafeteria staff will begin the summer meal program the week of June 14, 2021. Riverside will offer a 5-day package for pick-up every Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. The pick-up location is expected to be at the Middle School. However, the location may change to the elementary school due to construction projects throughout the district. Food service staff will pack bags on Mondays and distribute on Tuesdays. The package will consist of 5 lunch meals, 5 breakfast meals, and a 1/2 gallon of white milk. The summer meal service is free for all district children age 18 and under….

The Ellwood City Area School Board of Directors has scheduled a Special Meeting of the Board on May 26, 2021 at 6:30 PM. This meeting will be for the approval of the Flexible Instructional Days application as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. PHOTOS: 6th Grade Olympics

Ellwood City 6th grade students participated in their annual 6th grade Olympics this past Thursday May 20th at Helling Stadium in Ewing Park. The day started off with a parade of classes in the morning before the events began. The team names represented each of the students homerooms. The teams were as follows:  Agostinelli All Stars; Bing’s Bandits; Mrs.Cortez’s Charging Cheetahs; Morella’s Wolverines; Ott’s Bots ; The Rozanski Royals Morella’s Wolverines won the Tug Of War Championship.

GOT BOOKS?: Riverside Elementary Hosts Book Drive

Riverside Elementary School is hosting their annual book drive for students in K-5. Each year the PTO sponsors the AR Store for students in K-5 as part of the reading program. AR stands for Accelerated Reader and the kids can choose books within their reading range and take a short quiz after finishing their book.  Riverside has used this program with great success for several years. EC Historical Society Announces Scholarship Winners

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society awarded its Annual Robert and Janice Barensfeld Scholarship Awards to Emily Ann Borroni and Hayden Christopher Panek at a meeting Wednesday May 5th. The meeting was opened by Everett Bleakney, president of the Society. He first explained the appreciation of all who had entered essays to be judged. Bleakney stated that the History Society was blessed to be able to continue giving these awards. To date, the History Center has awarded $69,000.00 to deserving graduating students pursuing higher education. Ellwood City School District Receives $7,481 State Grant

The Ellwood City Area School District was awarded a $7,481 state grant by the Department of Agriculture, according to Senator Elder Vogel. The school district will use the Ag & Youth Program funding for the Garden at Perry Project.
