LCCTC Joint Operating Committee Remains Divided, Budget Stalled

Parents. Students. Educators. Community members. Dozens showed Thursday evening to a board meeting concerning Lawrence County Career and Technical Center’s school budget. Despite the turnout and discussion by over 30 parents, students and alumni, LCCTC’s Joint Operating Committee remains divided on its budget. “In order for our school to legally open and operate, we must have an approved budget,” Leonard Rich, LCCTC building director said. Butler County Community College is proud to announce the names of students who have made the president’s or dean’s lists for the spring 2026 semester, as well as the names of those who have graduated recently. ECASD Board of Directors Table Vote on Budget; Pass Tax Increase

Although the Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors voted unanimously (with Director Jennifer Tomon absent) to table a motion to approve the General Fund Budget (view it here) for the 2026-27 fiscal year in the amount of $36,941,103.00, they did approve a tax increase. CCBC Foundation Announces $50,000 Leadership Gift To “Future Takes Flight” Aviation Campaign

The Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) Foundation has announced a $50,000 leadership gift in support of the college’s “Future Takes Flight” Aviation Capital Campaign, marking the first public contribution toward the initiative. The tables were packed and the plates full as the Rotary Club of Ellwood City celebrated award winning students at their annual Scholarship Dinner. Students from the Ellwood City Area and Riverside School Districts and their parents were in attendance on Thursday May 21st. In addition to the Club’s scholarships, 2 additional memorial Trade School Scholarships were awarded in memory of Conner Lutz, who would have graduated this year. Commencement for the Riverside Beaver County High School Class of 2026 will be held Friday, June 5th, at 6:00 p.m. at the high school football stadium (Memorial Field).
