Time to break out those notebooks and pencils, school is right around the corner. Children in 7th Grade are welcome to attend Lincoln High School’s 7th Grade  Orientation on August 17th at 6:00 p.m. in the Lincoln High School Sabo Auditorium. Fauzy Appointed to fill ECASD Board Seat

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors appointed Claire Fauzy during Thursday evening’s committee/voting meeting to fill the position left vacant after the July resignation of former Board Director Matt Morella. ECASD’s Superintendent Dr. Wesley Shipley suggested that the board appoint Fauzy because of her obvious pull with voters. WELCOME BACK! Riverside Middle School will be hosting Meet The Teacher on Monday August 30th for students entering grades 6-8. Specific arrival times,  locations and parking instructions have been made available. Masks or No Masks: ECASD Board to Vote Thursday

A plan to return to school mask free for Ellwood City Area School District students will be up for vote during next week’s Board of Directors meeting. There will be one caveat to the mask-free plan: Students will be required to wear masks while riding the bus to and from school. This is the proposed plan introduced by District Superintendent Dr. Wesley Shipley. Shipley asked the board during Thursday’s committee meeting to approve the plan. BC3 Gets State Approval To Launch Practical Nursing Program

(Butler, PA) The Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing has authorized Butler County Community College to create a practical nursing program on BC3’s main campus, an approval that will enable the college to prepare students for the high-priority occupation in western Pennsylvania. The college in June 2020 announced its plan to establish the program as a result of an up to $10 million partnership with Concordia Lutheran Ministries, a Cabot-based health care provider. New Castle, PA) A summer open house Aug. 2 will introduce prospective students to BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing’s selection of 19 associate degree and certificate programs, its affordability compared to other regional colleges and universities and the transferability of its credits. In a public meeting notice announcement, the Ellwood City Area School District and its Board of Directors have changed the meeting scheduled on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. from a Committee Meeting to a combined Committee Meeting and General Purpose Meeting of the Board to fill the vacancy on the board and for any other general business purposes that may come before the Board. In an effort to maximize the collection of its unpaid school real estate taxes, Ellwood City Area School District has hired the law firm of Portnoff Law Associates, Ltd. to collect its delinquent accounts. Ellwood City Area School District Board Director Matt Morella has resigned from his board seat. In a letter to the board submitted on July 14, Morella stated, “I have relocated outside of the Ellwood City Area School District and no longer meet the residency requirement.” Morella said he relocated to be closer to his job at Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky Attorneys at Law in Pittsburgh.
