Mayor Court Presents Commendation to Local Resident

Mayor Court was honored to present a Commendation to Ann Tammaro, a life long resident and friend to many people in Ellwood City. Ann had given much of her time to her hometown as a volunteer, and Mayor Court presented her with a special Commendation on her 93rd Birthday for her dedicated service to the Ellwood City community. Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Monday, August 7, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. BC3 Cultural Center: Free Concert, Free Ice Cream and Cool Art

(Butler, PA) The Cultural Center at Butler County Community College will provide Graeter’s Ice Cream free to those attending the Pittsburgh Philharmonic’s free performance Aug. 13, an overture that will give guests a taste of Succop Theater’s fall 2017 Performing Artists series. Visitors can also view 35 oil paintings in the Mary Hulton Phillips Art Gallery during the opening of an exhibit by Doreen Currie, a Latrobe resident who studied under BC3 instructor David Ludwick in 2005 and 2006. CCBC Appoints Bryen Spriggs to New Administrative Position

Monaca, PA – Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) is proud to announce that Bryen Spriggs, a resident of Pittsburgh, PA, and a graduate of Slippery Rock University, has been appointed to the newly created position of Sports Information and College Events Administrator. In this role, Spriggs will serve as the campus leader for all sports information and reporting and has responsibility for managing the use of college facilities, including Dome rentals, by both internal and external groups. The Holy Redeemer 5lst Annual Bazaar started Wednesday, August 2 and will run through Saturday August 5. The excitement and fun begin at 6:00 p.m. nightly and runs until 10:00 p.m. on the Holy Redeemer Catholic Center grounds. Fundraising for Local High School Student in Pool Accident

Anthony Tollari is a high school student at Riverside who was in a pool-related accident nearly two weeks ago that has left him partially paralyzed. “After a Colt League Championship baseball defeat, Anthony was at his home, and dove into his pool. He landed extremely awkward, and broke his neck. He was rushed to the hospital, and had to have emergency surgery to save his life. Anthony is now in a facility for at least two months to attempt to regain his feeling and mobility,” his GoFundMe page states. Mayor Meets with Residents on National Community Night Out

On Tuesday, August 1, 2017 Mayor Anthony J. Court and Lt. David Kingston of the Ellwood City Police Department participated in “The National Community Night Out” meeting and greeting residents throughout Ellwood City. Adult Dance at Ewing Park Pool

The Ellwood City Borough Council Parks and Recreation Committee will be hosting the first Adult Dance at the Ewing Park Pool. The Committee has hosted a youth dance for the past two years and decided it would be a nice change to host an adult dance. “We decided to host the adult dance to give the older residents something to do, while also promoting our parks facilities – we are one of the few remaining local communities that still have a public swimming pool.” Judy Dici, a committee member stated. Waylon DelBoverlando is a two year old who suffers from a rare autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disease called Mucopolysaccharidosis, also known as Sanfilippo Syndrome. Caused by a deficiency in one of the enzymes needed to break down the glycosaminoglycan heparan sulfate, those affected suffer most from neurological symptoms. PennDOT to Start Suspending Vehicle Registrations for Unpaid Tolls

The new state law, Act 165, which was approved last fall, takes effect this Friday. Any drivers with unpaid tolls greater than $500 or who have at least six toll violations are at risk for vehicle registration suspension. As part of a limited time amnesty offer, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission will waive fees for anyone who settles their debts before the deadline of 7p.m. Friday, and for anyone who has had the debts sent to a collection agency the turnpike will waive half of the associated fees.
