CCBC Appoints Bryen Spriggs to New Administrative Position

Monaca, PA – Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) is proud to announce that Bryen Spriggs, a resident of Pittsburgh, PA, and a graduate of Slippery Rock University, has been appointed to the newly created position of Sports Information and College Events Administrator. In this role, Spriggs will serve as the campus leader for all sports information and reporting and has responsibility for managing the use of college facilities, including Dome rentals, by both internal and external groups.

Additionally, he will oversee all aspects of the College’s men’s basketball program as Head Coach.

“The creation of this new position at CCBC addresses keys strategic priorities for the College, including growing partnerships and increasing connections and engagement,” stated President Chris Reber. “The hiring of Bryen Springs is the next step in CCBC’s strategic plan to serve the region as a high achieving, comprehensive community college that engages students and supports the community in a personalized and welcoming environment.”

No stranger to the classroom or the court, Spriggs has coached basketball at a variety of institutions, including Mineral Area College (MO), Lincoln Trail Community College (IL), Summit Academy School for Boys in Herman, PA, Marshalltown Community College (IA), and Slippery Rock University.

He has also taught criminal justice at Marshalltown Community College, served as Assistant Director of Admissions for the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and as a Case Manager for Franklin County Children Services in Columbus, OH.

“Bryen’s unique combination of coaching, teaching and administrative experiences was the trifecta we were looking for in the person to fill our new position,” said Janice Kaminski, CCBC’s Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment. “Not only is he passionate about the development of student athletes, but he also has a strong ability to communicate, educate and lead others that will serve the College well moving forward.”

“He represents everything we were looking for in a new hire by possessing an array of skills that will enable him to thrive in this multi-faceted position,” added John Ashaolu, CCBC’s Director of Athletics and Student Programs. “During the interview process, it was clear that Bryen would balance the academic success and personal growth of our student athletes with high performance standards for the team – a top priority for both our department and the College.”

Spriggs earned his bachelor’s degree at Slippery Rock University, where he attended on a basketball scholarship. He also earned his master’s degree in Criminal Justice at Slippery Rock and is currently enrolled in the online Doctorate in Organizational Leadership program at Argosy University in Chicago.
