Despite Pitrelli’s Performance From Deep, Wolverines Lose to Lincoln Park

Despite a strong performance from 3-point range from Rick Pitrelli, Ellwood City fell to top-ranked Lincoln Park 64-50 Tuesday Night in Section 1-3A play. Pitrelli connected on five 3-pointers en route to his team high 17 points (5-10 shooting, 3 rebounds, 4 assists) The junior forward connected on trifecta of deep balls in an entertaining first quarter that saw the Wolverines race out to a 17-15 lead. Ellwood City Council Raises Firefighter Pay

Yesterday the Ellwood City Borough Council voted to raise the part-time firefighter hourly wage from 11.40/hr to 15.00/hr, “a far more competitive salary,” according to Councilwoman Lisa Guerrera. While council voted in favor of raising the firefighter wage, the majority voted against raising the other non-union employee wages. Ellwood Resident Busted for Heroin Distribution

On January 12, Ellwood City officers served a search warrant at 806 Pershing St., a residence suspected of selling narcotics related to several overdose investigations. Officers of the Ellwood City Police Department were aware of the resident there, 27-year-old Samantha Sutherland, and drug dealing activities. Officers conducting the search were assisted by the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Drug Task, which Ellwood City Officers are member of. Numerous items related to the packaging and distribution of narcotics were found, including approximately 3.5 grams of suspected heroin. The staff of James N. Edmonds, Jr.’s office has made it public that Dr. Edmonds will be relocating at the end of January, 2018. James N. Edmonds, Jr. is an oral surgeon who has been practicing in Ellwood City for over 30 years and will continue to practice in Ellwood City (Dr. Brown’s office – 101 5th Street) one day a week on Wednesdays. Lincoln High Graduate Named to WPCC All-Academic Team

Butler, PA– Madison Morella, a 2017 Lincoln High graduate and freshman on a Butler County Community College volleyball team that in October captured its 14th Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference title since 1977, is one of 19 BC3 fall sports athletes named to the WPCC all-academic team. Lincoln High School Cuts Costs, No More Paper Report Cards

In an attempt to cut thousands in costs, the Ellwood City School Board has decided to stop giving out paper report cards at Lincoln High School, effective with the latest nine-weeks grading period. Parents and guardians are encouraged to instead view their child’s grades through the online platform that is already in place; those without access to the internet or who prefer the paper reports can make individual requests to the school to continue receiving hard copies. This decision will not affect the lower grades and high school students who fail a course will receive a mailing from the guidance…

GriefShare Program

No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process. A GriefShare seminar/support group is being hosted and sponsored by Calvin Presbyterian Church. The program will be facilitated by Ginny Brest. The first session is scheduled for Sunday, February 4 from 1:300-3:30 p.m. in the church parlor. The group will meet each Sunday afternoon (except April 1, Easter Sunday) for 13 weeks, concluding on May 6 . While participants are encouraged to complete the 13-week program if possible, attendance is not mandatory each week.
