Relay For Life Leadership Meeting Planned

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ellwood City will hold their Leadership Meeting on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 6:00pm. The meeting will be held at the Moose at 1400 Factory Avenue in Ellwood City and is open to the public. The meeting will continue discussion of plans for the 2018 event, with a Super Heroes theme, Who is Yours?, Currently the tentative date for the Relay For Life event is June 2nd downtown. PHOTOS: Wolverines Fall to Quips On Senior Night

Ellwood City fell to Aliquippa on Friday, 64-58, even with Broc Boariu scoring 17 points. The game saw no team lead by double-digits and Ellwood City hold a slim lead in the last quarter of play – a drastic turn in play from the meeting between the teams earlier this season. The Wolverines trailed only 32-31 at half after scoring a game-high 19 points during the second quarter. Free Spaces to Show Creations

Daysprings on 6th is no stranger to hosting artistic events; coming up this spring is the Show and TELLwood Expo, on April 28, 2018. While the final details of the event are yet to be decided, shop owner Janet Keenan is offering fifteen free spaces to local artists and creators to display creations. Yesterday’s Special Council Meeting Recap

Thursday evening council called for a special meeting to discuss and vote on the Electric Department construction and to extend the bidding time frame for the construction of the new Public Works Building. All council members were in attendance, as was Mayor Anthony Court and Borough Solicitor Ed Leymarie. After much discussion, council passed the motion to cancel the construction and bidding for the new Electric Department Building in a 5-2 roll call vote. Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of Feb. 5th, 2018

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Wednesday, February 7, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a program designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. Golf Bash to Benefit Educational Endeavors

The Ellwood City Wolverines are teaming up with Holy Redeemer to host a Golf Bash to benefit educational endeavors. The event will be Saturday, February 1- at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Center from 4-9p.m. Cost is $20 and includes food and refreshments. More information on the flyer below.


Council to Hold Special Meeting Tonight

Tonight at 5:15p.m. at the Ellwood City Municipal Building, council will be holding a special meeting to discuss the outcome of the public works and electric buildings. Council will be discussing the possibility of deadline extensions for bidding on the construction of the public works building and to entirely revoke the plan to create a new facility for the electric department. Several council members, including the new elects Rob Brough and Lisa Guerrera, councilwoman Marilyn Mancini, and Council President Judy Dici, have previously stated they are not in favor of rebuilding the electric department.
