PHOTOS: Big Second Inning Propels Lady Wolverines To Victory Over Riverside

Two Ellwood City homers led to an eight run outburst in the second inning that propelled the Lady Wolverines past visiting Riverside 15-2 in varsity softball action. Breonna Streit, Maura Agostinelli, Makinley Magill, Anna Ferrucci, Maria Ioanilli, and Zoe Kalantzis all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.  Ellwood City added on six more runs in the third inning. EC JR HIGH SOFTBALL TEAM REMAINS UNDEFEATED BEATS MOHAWK 14-0 The offense started out on fire as they plated 13 runs in the first inning on Friday night at Stiefel Park. The game was halted after 5 innings as the mercy rule took effect. Kyla Servick, Kali Barnett, and Grace Balin led the charge with doubles. The coins were manufactured and used to help publicize the Diamond Jubilee celebration. Ellwood City was founded 1892 and celebrated their 75th anniversary with a series of events throughout the summer of 1967 named the Diamond Jubuilee. The Lawrence County Car Show is a family friendly event featuring cars, face painting and music. Blowout Victories Abound: Boehm Shines on Mound for Panthers, Garroway at Plate for Ellwood City

Two Riverside Pitchers Combine In Shutout Victory Against Avonworth Riverside Panthers defeated Avonworth 10-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Nick Ottaviani struck out Patrick Gannon to finish off the game, finishing off a phenomenal start by Riverside starter Gunner Boehm. The Panthers fired up the offense in the first inning, and scored two runs when Boehm helped his own cause with a homer. Riverside tallied four runs in the fifth inning. Ellwood City Narcotics Complaint Leads to One Arrested and One at Large

James Hammond Jr., 23, 413 8th St. was charged with manufacturing, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at the intersection of College St. and Wampum Ave. According to a police report, Hammond was pulled over on a bench warrant by Ellwood City Police. ELLPORT- Christopher M. Rusnock, 33, of 113 Duncan Ave., is charged with three counts of manufacturing, delivery or possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of children, after wife files a protection abuse order against him.
