Bernstine to Host Concealed Carry Rights and Safety Seminar

ELLWOOD CITY – As a way for local residents to further understand their rights with respect to the state’s firearms laws and protections, Rep. At Monday evening’s council meeting, the Borough of Ellwood City proudly recognized the Allegheny Aquatic Alliance for continued diligence in removing debris from the Connoquenessing Creek and restoring the waterway to its natural beauty This commendation will be spread upon the minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Borough Council held the 17th day of September, 2018. Municipal Women’s Club Host Las Vegas Impersonator Tim Beasley

The Ellwood City Municipal Women’s Club hosts the Las Vegas Impersonator Tim Beasley on Saturday, October 20 at 7:00pm with doors opening at 6:00pm. Event will take place at the SOI Hall on Lawrence Avenue.  Tim Beasley has 32 years of experience as a performer traveling the country doing shows in a variety of venues; including Las Vegas. Beasley will be performing a two hour show impersonating Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Tony Bennett. A show that is sure to evoke fond memories and might even encourage some dancing. There will be a ticket cost of a $25 donation per person….

Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County Host Basic Training Class

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County will be hosting a Basic Training Class beginning Fall 2018. Master Gardener volunteers support Penn State Extension’s educational programs in consumer horticulture. The Basic Training class will include the following topics: botany, plant propagation, soil health and fertilizer management, composting, controlling pests safely, entomology, plant diseases, indoor plants, vegetables, lawn care, pruning, woody ornamentals, herbaceous plants, native plants, weeds and invasives. After completing their training, Master Gardeners help Penn State Extension better serve the home gardening public by answering questions, speaking to groups, writing articles, working with youth, and much more. Ellwood City Community Enrichment and the Ellwood City Area Public Library hosted Ellwood City’s 17th Storytelling Festival on Saturday, September 15, 2018 in Ewing Park. The festival is a beloved community event that had featured free activities for children and professional storytellers. Katy’s Homestyle Bakery, Custom Cakes by Jodie, and an ice cream truck had been set up for attendees to purchase sweets. There was also free balloon art, face painting, and horse-drawn trolley rides. Riverside Bounces Back In Victory; Wolverines Fall Short On Road

After being handed a lopsided shutout defeat last week, the Riverside Panthers were looking to rebound on their home field Friday night and prevailed in a convincing 24-0 shutout victory over Western Beaver. The Panther defense bounced back in pitching the shutout, allowing less than 150 yards of total offense. The Riverside offense was able to score early and relied on the ground game to dictate the mistake-free victory. Busy Beaver Set To Open New Location On Ellwood Road

Based on information made available on their social media page, Pittsburgh-based Busy Beaver will open its newest store located at 2640 Ellwood Road in New Castle, PA 16101 on September 14, 2018. This location, just north of the Lawrence Village Plaza, is the third new store that has opened for the neighborhood home improvement retailer this year. Similar to Busy Beaver’s new Grove City and Greenville, PA locations that opened earlier in 2018, the 40,000 sq. ft.
