Wrestling Team Competes In South Side Duals Tournament

The Ellwood City wrestling team was one of 14 teams that competed in the South Side Beaver Duals Tournament this past Saturday. The team had some individual success but were hampered by no contest forfeits as a team leaving the team winless in the tournament. The Wolverines fell to Cambridge Springs (58-9), Blackhawk (36-24), Lakeview (23-21), Penn Cambria (60-21), and West Greene (34-22). PHOTOS: Panthers Stifle Wolverines, Earn Boys Rivalry Victory

The Riverside Panthers stifled the Ellwood City Wolverines offense on its way to a 57-33 rivalry victory at home Tuesday night. Ben Hughes, Kevin Kolesar, and Nathan Sciarro led the Panthers offense, while the Riverside defense held Ellwood City to a single field goal in the second quarter, 14 points in the first half, and an overall 23% shooting performance. Hughes (15 points, 6-12 FGs two 3-pointers) and Kolesar (13 points, 5-7 FGs) both reached double figures scoring while Sciarro (7 points, 11 assists, 7 rebounds, 4 steals) had an all around game for the victorious Panthers.   Riverside (8-5 overall)…

Wolverine Senior Signs With Seton Hill

Congratulations are in order for Ellwood City senior Natalia Greco. Greco is the second Ellwood City Softball senior to commit to further not only her education, but her softball career at a higher level. On Tuesday, Greco signed to attend Seton Hill following her sister, Skyla Greco, who signed in 2018. Much like Ariana Garroway, there is a long and hard work filled varsity softball career following her all the way to Seton Hill college. PHOTOS: Lady Wolverines Claim Rivalry Victory Over Panthers

The Lady Wolverines claimed a 42-31 rivalry victory over Riverside on their home court Monday night. Balanced scoring a third quarter spurt helped the Wolverines pull away in the tightly contested game. Ellwood City held Riverside to a single field goal in a 3rd quarter that stretched what was a five-point halftime lead out to an 11-point cushion. All six Wolverines who played collected field goals led by Senior Isabella Roth finished with a game high of 15 points (four 3-pointers) including twelve in the first half. When the weather gets cold, it’s assumed that so would everyone’s hearts. However, that is simply not the case. Most people think of winter, or chilly temperatures, as a depressing time. VIDEO: Ellwood City Medical Center Latest, GoFundMe Created

KDKA reporter Ralph Iannotti once again brought recent details in a video posted over the weekend following the “on-again, off-again payroll mess” at the Ellwood City Medical Center. According to the video report, the medical center failed to pay its December electric bill, which has cause some in the community to want to take action. Mayor Anthony Court said the borough would “ignore penalty or interest charges on the electric bill for the next three months.” The only stipulation, the Borough’s mayor stated in the published report is the money saved has to go to help some of the hospital employees….

Wolverines Notch A Comeback Victory Over Lancers

Ellwood City boys basketball team gained a come-from-behind victory against Neshannock 58-55 on Friday with the help of Steve Antuono, who scored game-high 27 points. After trailing 36-32 after three quarters, and by as many as six points in several occasions in the fourth quarter, the Wolverines clawed back to victory, scoring the last seven points of the contest. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Rep. Kelly Fights for Ellwood City Hospital Employees

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-16) today sent an official letter to the U.S. Department of Labor to help ensure a speedy resolution to recent paycheck problems for employees at Ellwood City Hospital in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. Ellwood City Revitalization presents the 3rd Annual Winter Wine and Brew Fest on Saturday, January 26, 2019. The event, scheduled from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, will take place at the Ellwood City Sons of Italy.
