LHS Class of ’57 Awards Two Scholarships

Two Lincoln High School students received scholarships from the Lincoln High School Class of 1957. Hannah Rose Keally is this year’s recipient of the $5,000 scholarship given by the Lincoln High School Class of 1957 while Levi Alexander Smith received the $500 best essay award from the Class of ’57. Hannah is majoring in fashion design in the College of Arts at Kent State University which gave her a president’s achievement award and an honors distinction award. ECASD Board Passes Health and Safety Plan, Approves Start of Fall Sports

Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors passed a Health and Safety plan Monday night in anticipation of the return to school. The details in the plan were not made available to the public, but Interim Superintendent Wes Shipley said the plan will be posted to the district’s website today. Ellwood City Hungarian Home gives $750 scholarships to graduates of Lincoln, Riverside

(Ellwood City) Levi Smith and Kathryn Coyne, graduates of Lincoln and Riverside high schools, respectively, have been selected to receive $750 scholarships from the Ellwood City Hungarian Home. Smith, a son of Joanne Smith of Harmony, plans to attend Drexel University in Philadelphia this fall and major in accounting. Coyne, a daughter of Robert and Margaret Coyne of Beaver Falls, also plans to attend Drexel University and major in product design. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. NOTE The Library will continue doing curbside pickup. Cannabis-Focused Investment Banker Reported As Frontrunner To Acquire Ellwood City Medical Center

According to an article published by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette early Friday morning, a cannabis-focused investment bank in California has emerged as a frontrunner to acquire the former Ellwood City Medical Center out of bankruptcy. According to the article, Newport Beach, Calif.-based Pelorus Equity Group Inc., which holds first and second mortgages on the closed medical center, is poised to acquire all of the medical center’s assets, according to recent bankruptcy court filings.
