“Angeline Riccardo Day” Declared In Ellwood City

Mayor Anthony J. Court has declared Tuesday, September 15, 2020 as “Angeline Riccardo Day” in Ellwood City. Mayor Court presented a proclamation in observance of Mrs. Riccardo’s 100th birthday. Mrs. Riccardo was married for 57 years to Armond Riccardo, has 3 children, James, Ron and Allan and was blessed with 8 grandchildren. “Mrs. Riccardo is an outstanding citizen that won the respect of her family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances,” said Mayor Court in a statement. ECASD Board of Directors Push for Spectator Attendance at Games

There’s no doubt the Ellwood City Area School Board of Directors support student participation in Fall sports, but they also made it clear that they want spectators in the stands, on the sidelines, and cheering on the athletes. At Thursday’s meeting, Director Erica Gray insisted the board find a way to make that happen. Although Superintendent Wes Shipley agrees with the board, he said the board’s and the district’s options are limited and opening the “gates” to events could open a flood gate of liability for the district. Governor Tom Wolf today announced this week that restaurants may increase indoor occupancy to 50 percent starting September 21. Online Sessions Thru November To Benefit BC3, Guest Students

(Butler, PA) Three additional start dates through November will provide Butler County Community College students the opportunity to add credits in as few as five weeks through fully online classes, a BC3 administrator said, and guest students a chance to save at least $230 for a three-credit course. POLICE REPORTS: Criminal Complaints & Reports

Harrasment: A 24-year-old female was a reported victim of physical harassment according to a PA State Police report. On Sunday, September 6th at approximately 1:00 a.m., police responded to Panella Way, in Wayne Township to find the victim who related the actor pushed/shoved and held her down. The victim related that she believed the actor was still at her residence and that she had removed herself from the scene. Upon canvassing the area the actor was determined to not be present. SPORTS: Ellwood City Boys Golf, Girls Tennis Both Victorious

Ellwood City boys golf team defeated Neshannock 220-225 on Tuesday at Delmar Golf Course while the Ellwood City girls tennis team defeated Ambridge at the Ewing Park tennis courts. The season opening victory for the girls tennis team was powered by straight set victories in all five matches.  Molly and Maddy McCommons both collected 6-0, 6-0 straight set victories in singles along with Nichole Bartolomeo who won 6-1, 6-1 in singles play.  In doubles, Cassidy Navolio and Alex Johnston collected a 6-4, 6-1 victory while Anna Williams and Rylea Heitzenrater scored a 6-0, 6-0 victory for Ellwood City. Yellow Ribbon Girls Looking For Christmas Campaign Support

The Yellow Ribbon Girls is looking for your support to provide Christmas treasures and supplies to deployed troops this upcoming holiday season. The campaign, named “Please Help Save Christmas For Our Deployed Troops!”, aims to ship between 150 and 200 Christmas packages full of decorations, holiday treats, basic supplies and gifts. The postage on last year’s 300 X-Large Christmas care packages was $14,000.00.  Sadly, in 2020 almost all of the fundraising opportunities have been postponed or canceled.
