ARISE, Borough Of Ellwood City Launch Sexual Assault Awareness Month

In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month this April, ARISE is again placing yard signs and teal ribbons throughout Ellwood City to raise awareness, increase community visibility, and encourage conversation about sexual violence. The annual campaign aims to reduce stigma, highlight the prevalence of sexual violence, and remind survivors that support and resources are available. PA Drivers Reminded To Put Down Phone While Driving Or Pay Fine Starting In June

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are reminding Pennsylvanians to put down the phone while driving or they will be forced to pay a fine starting June 5, 2026. In 2024, Governor Josh Shapiro signed Paul Miller’s Law, which prohibits the use of hand-held devices while driving, even while stopped temporarily due to traffic, a red light, or other delays. Drivers can still use their phones to alert authorities in the event of an emergency and use hands-free technology to make phone calls, use a GPS, and listen to music. Beginning June…

Riverside Responds, Shuts Out Wolverines 1-0

Both teams were strong on the mound on Tuesday, but Riverside defeated Ellwood City 1-0 behind a stellar pitching performance by Matt Santillo. The victory evened the mini home-and-home series between the two clubs as Ellwood City collected its home victory on Monday. Wolverines Rout Riverside 11-0, Stays Unbeaten

Aaron Lake drove in four runs on two hits to lead Ellwood City (5-0 Overall) past Riverside 11-0 in six innings on Monday afternoon at Sanders Field. Lake doubled in the first inning, scoring two runs and smacked a 2-run home run to left field in the sixth inning. Lake also dazzled on the mound, striking out 10 batters on the day surrendering only two hits and walking four. ECASD Warning Public About Annual Tradition Game Called “Assassins.”

In what may be an annual tradition, senior students at Lincoln High School play the game where the goal is to “eliminate” each other using water guns or similar toy items in a tradition called “Assassins.” The district would like to advise that this activity is not a school sponsored, school endorsed, or school created activity. “It is an activity that is initiated by the students, usually the senior class, and occurs in schools across the country,” says superintendent Amy Anderson.
