PHOTOS: 2021 Ellwood City Homecoming

Congratulations are in order for the 2021 Ellwood City Homecoming Queens, Alyssa Jeffcoat and Kyla Servick, and the Homecoming King, Alexander Roth. All parties were recognized during the Friday evening football game at Helling Stadium as part of Homecoming festivities. The host Wolverines were defeated by Neshannock 58-14. On September 30, Good Wheels closed the doors of its Ellwood City location and will now transition to one dealership which will operate out of East Liverpool, Ohio. POLICE: Weekly Blotter

MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT: According to a report, police were dispatched to a one vehicle accident on Plain Grove Road, near Harlansburg Road, in Lawrence County on Sunday, September 12 at approximately 5:45 p.m. where, upon arrival, it was found after interviewing witnesses, the operator of 2010 Harley-Davidson had fallen over on his motorcycle with it resting on his leg causing a suspected serious leg injury. The operator, David Difrischia, 58, of Ellwood City, was transported to the Grove City Hospital where signs of impairment were observed. Senate Passes Measures to Help Pennsylvania Farmers Move Goods

HARRISBURG – The state Senate this week passed two measures to help Pennsylvania farmers make home deliveries and meet other transportation needs. “These bills will help our farmers move products to market easier and with less unnecessary regulation,” said Senator Elder Vogel (R-47). Senate Bill 736 would enable a farmer to register a farm vehicle for the delivery of milk and other agricultural products to both businesses and homes. Under current law, a farmer is required to purchase, register and maintain a separate commercial vehicle for home deliveries while also maintaining a farm vehicle to deliver products to businesses. Ellwood City Cross Country Remains Undefeated, EC Girls Tennis Beats Riverside; Panther Soccer Teams Victorious

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team remains undefeated after its victory at Southside Beaver on Tuesday. The boys defeated opponents Shenango (21-26), Southside Beaver (15-50), and Beaver Falls (15-50).  Top runners for the Wolverines were Anthony Spadafore (2nd place, 19:31), Joel Brooks (4th place, 19:46), Colton Crizer (5th place, 20:04), Nick Wise (6th place, 20:19), and Ian Stoneking (8th place, 21:22). “All the boys ran a great race,” said head coach Mark Hall. If you have waste to get rid of, here’s your chance. The Borough of Ellwood City has announced information on its upcoming annual clean-up day scheduled for next month. The clean up date is Saturday, October 16th from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Drop off location is the parking lot at 1200 Factory Avenue in Ellwood City, just west of Adams Manufacturing Building #4 and prior to the Moose Lodge The cost is $10.00 per passenger vehicle for drop offs.
