Ellwood City and Riverside baseball teams both collected victories on Monday while the Ellwood City softball team cruised to another victory. Magnifico, Wolverines Beat New Brighton 3-1 Nick Magnifico allowed just four hits to New Brighton en route to a complete game victory as the hosting Wolverines rallied for three runs in the sixth inning to secure a come-from-behind victory. EC Fire Department Hosting Monthly CPR/AED & First Aid Class

Ellwood City Fire Department will host their monthly CPR/AED and First Aid class on Wednesday April 6th at 6:30 p.m. The class will take place at the fire station, located at 411 6th Street, Ellwood City, PA 16117 The class teaches American Heart Association Courses. BLS for Healthcare providers, Heartsaver for the Public, Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid for the Preschool and Day Care providers. Pre-registration is required. Barry’s Ice Cream to Open April 7

For the Barrys, ice cream is a passion that has been all in the family for three generations. Barry’s Ice Cream at 105 Line Ave., Ellwood City opened its doors in April of 1993, and since then the family has been serving up yummy, creamy treats. FTC Takes Action Against Multistate Auto Dealer Napleton Automotive

The Federal Trade Commission and the State of Illinois are taking action against Napleton, a large, multistate auto dealer group based in Illinois, for sneaking illegal junk fees for unwanted “add-ons” onto customers’ bills and for discriminating against Black consumers by charging them more for financing. Napleton will pay $10 million to settle the lawsuit brought by the FTC and the State of Illinois, a record-setting monetary judgment for an FTC auto lending case. “Working closely with the Illinois Attorney General, we are holding these dealerships accountable for discriminating against minority consumers and sneaking junk fees onto people’s bills,” said…


American Idol’s Morgan Gruber to Perform at Koehler

Ellwood City Band Bash will host “An Evening with Morgan Gruber” at Koehler Brewery Pub on April 9. Along with Gruber, local bands The Leftovers, Mac ‘n Nat, and Rover will play. Kitchen Cabinet Planning Kids Created Kingdom Clean Up

With the annual Ellwood City Easter Egg Hunt event scheduled on Saturday, the Ellwood City Kitchen Cabinet is planning and organizing a clean up at the Kids Created Kingdom in Ewing Park on Tuesday, April 5th. According to its social media page, the non-profit plans to rake up the leaves inside and along the fence outside of the large kids playground feature.  The clean up is planned for 6:00 p.m. Two years ago the clean up was done within two hours because of extra volunteer help. Tower Road Bridge Replacement Begins Monday in Perry Township

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing bridge replacement work on Tower Road (Route 2009) in Perry Township, Lawrence County, will begin Monday, April 4 weather permitting. Beginning at approximately 6:00 a.m. Monday, Tower Road will close to through traffic between Edgar Lane and McCartney Hollow Road as crews begin box culvert replacement work. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

FALSE IDENTIFICATION: Dakota Hincherberg, 29, Ellwood City, is charged with False Identification To Law Enforcement after an incident on March 24th. According to a criminal complaint, at approximately 8:45 p.m. an anonymous caller reported a suspicious male in the area of Sixth Street and Bell Avenue in Ellwood City, walking over the roadway while screaming. Police investigated the area with negative results. Later, at approximately 9:13 p.m., the same caller reported the same male in the area of Seventh Street.
