ECASD Board of Directors Puts Hold on Stadium Lights

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors decided during its Thursday Agenda Meeting to put the purchase of new lighting for Helling Stadium on hold. Dr. Wesley Shipley, school superintendent, said that the project was quoted by Musco lighting at a cost of at minimum $275,000. He said the “Cadillac” lighting system would cost the district at least $344,000. The lighting was not included in the original $2,562,405 budget for the stadium project. Riverside Track & Field Teams Shine In WPIAL Semifinals

Both Riverside girls and boys track and field teams found great success during the WPIAL Class 2A team playoff semifinals Wednesday afternoon at Riverside High School’s Memorial Field. Each went unbeaten with their team performances. The Panthers boys defeated North Catholic 87-63, Carlynton 120-26, Deer Lakes 115-34, and New Brighton 108-41. McQuistion Mows Down Mohawk; EC Baseball Defeated in Extras Following Rain Postponement

Amber McQuistion mowed down the Mohawk Warriors to the tune of a five inning no-hit performance on Wednesday. As a result, the Ellwood City junior high softball team easily defeated the visiting Warriors 10-0. McQuistion struck out 11 batters without issuing a walk in her steller all around performance. She also finished 2-3 at the plate with one run and one RBI on the afternoon. 2022 Lincoln High School Prom Court Announced

The 2022 Lincoln High School Prom Court has been announced! The “Illuminated Lagoon” Prom will be held this Friday, May 6th at the Villa in New Castle. During the night’s festivities the 2022 Prom King and Queen will be crowned. The annual Lincoln Jr./Sr. High School Promenade will be held on Friday at the Sgt. Leslie H. Ominous skies surrounding Sanders Field Tuesday afternoon when the Ellwood City Wolverines were set to host Mohawk for the second game of their home-and-home series with the Warriors. The afternoon started with senior recognition for the five Wolverines seniors prior to first pitch, but the game was not able to be completed. The game was halted at a pivital junction due to rain and will resume Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. with Ellwood City leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning. The Ellwood City baseball and softball teams both earned victories on Monday. The Lady Wolverines earned a resounding 10-0 victory over Beaver Falls as part of their Senior Night festivities.
