Borough Manager Announces Projects During Council Voting Meeting

During Monday’s Borough Council Meeting, Borough Manager Kevin Swogger said many projects are planned across the borough of Ellwood City including the addition of a handicapped bathroom at Ewing Park. He also said the borough is working on getting quotes for signs to be placed at the entrances to town at 488 in Ellport and Route 65 from New Castle. The Ellwood City Kitchen Cabinet is partnering with the borough to provide a portion of funding for the project. Divine Grace Parish Food Bank Receives Proclamation

Mayor Anthony J. Court proudly presented a proclamation to Divine Grace Ministerium Social Services and Food Bank on Wednesday, June 14th. Divine Grace is a ministry to feed and give aid to less fortunate. “They have provided outstanding service and dedication to our community for over 30 years,” said Mayor Court in an emailed statement. Application Deadline Nears For Record 155 BC3 Scholarships

Six scholarships administered by the Butler County Community College Education Foundation will debut in the 2023-2024 academic year and increase to 155 the record number of named financial awards available to BC3 students, a college administrator said. Students registered in fall 2023 credit programs can apply for a scholarship until July 1, said Bobbi Jo Cornetti, development coordinator of the foundation that distributed 148 named financial awards and a record $292,123 to BC3 students in the 2022-2023 academic year. Ellwood City Man Pleads Guilty To Attempted Production Of Material Depicting Sexual Exploitation Of Minor

PITTSBURGH – A resident of Ellwood City, PA, pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of attempted production and production of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced Thursday. David Bates, age 63, pleaded guilty to one count before United States District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan on June 12, 2023. Bernstine Announces PHARE Funding for Butler, Lawrence Counties

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) today announced the awarding of $800,000 to Butler and Lawrence counties through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement Program (PHARE) to help with homelessness, household modifications and safety challenges. “Rehabilitating existing properties to meet current market demands is an excellent way to invest our resources,” said Bernstine. “Renovating existing properties has some important benefits. STATE CHAMPS! Unbeaten Riverside Captures PIAA Class-3A Championship

A pair of brothers and a sophomore sensation helped the Riverside Panthers lay claim to a record setting year on Thursday, defeating Camp Hill 4-0 to earn its PIAA Class-3A Championship. Brothers Mitch and Hunter Garvin accounted for all four RBIs in the victory while sophomore pitcher Christian Lucarelli fired 6.2 innings of two hit baseball for the unbeaten Panthers. Butler County Community College is proud to announce the names of students who have made the President’s List and Dean’s List for the Spring 2023 semester, as well as the names of those who have graduated recently. Four Area Athletes To Be Represented In Penn Ohio All-Star Game

Four area athletes will be represented at the annual Penn Ohio All-Star Game next Thursday. Riverside announced that three members of their 2022 football team have been selected to play in a notable game while Ellwood City will send one athlete from their 2022 team.
