A pair of brothers and a sophomore sensation helped the Riverside Panthers lay claim to a record setting year on Thursday, defeating Camp Hill 4-0 to earn its PIAA Class-3A Championship.

Brothers Mitch and Hunter Garvin accounted for all four RBIs in the victory while sophomore pitcher Christian Lucarelli fired 6.2 innings of two hit baseball for the unbeaten Panthers.

Riverside becomes the first team WPIAL team, at any classification level, to win a PIAA championship with an undefeated record (25-0 Overall).  The baseball program now holds five state championships

Hunter Garvin broke a scoreless game in the bottom of the fourth with a RBI single that proved to be the only run the Panthers needed Thursday. A two-run double by his brother Mitch in the bottom of the sixth inning broke open the contest as Riverside collected three of its four hits in the frame.

After surrendering a double to the game’s second batter, sophomore Christian Lucarelli escaped a bases loaded first inning jam and allowed only one more hit across his 6.2 inning performance. Lucarelli struck out nine hitters and walked four batters.

After striking out the first two batters in the seventh inning, Lucarelli gave way to Hunter Garvin who tossed one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen to help secure the victory for Riverside.

Luke Parise took the loss for Camp Hill. The hurler surrendered four runs on four hits over six innings, striking out 11.
