Sam Hughes scampered for two touchdowns to lead the Riverside Panthers to their first victory of the season, a 19-0 victory over rival Ellwood City on Friday night during Homecoming at Riverside’s Memorial Stadium. Madeline Dimeo was named Riverside Homecoming Queen during halftime. Hughes, who finished with 90 yards rushing, scored from 21 years and 19 yards while Brady Barton found the endzone on a 45 yard touchdown for the Panthers (1-4, 1-6 overall). POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

NOISE DISTURBANCE: Amber Jewel Perez, 36, of Ellwood City, is charged with aggravated harassment, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and harassment earlier this month. According to a criminal complaint, officers were called to the neighborhood of Loop Street where they heard loud music coming from a residence. Perez and another woman were in a hot tub on the porch playing loud music. The police instructed them to turn down the music and Perez complied. At 5:35 a.m., the police were sent back to the address for another disturbance. A caller reported that the music was getting louder. Perez emerged…


ECASD Names New Solicitor

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors voted Thursday evening to name Tucker Arensberg as the new law firm to represent the district. The name of the associate that will serve at the meetings was not announced, but the decision comes following the resignation of the district’s current solicitor, Jennifer Dambeck, of the Beard Legal Group. Dambeck resignation is effective Dec. 2. She said the decision is not a personal one, and that Beard Legal Group plans to represent school districts that are closer to its office in Altoona. REMINDER: Halloween Parade Set For October 23

The annual Ellwood City Halloween Parade will take place on Saturday, October 23rd in downtown Ellwood City. Riverside Lions Club Continues Their Community Outreach With A Variety of Programs

The Riverside Lions Club is continuing their community outreach through a variety of programs. Once again, the club had the opportunity of being able to distribute thousands of school supplies to six different schools in the area. SEXUAL ASSAULT OF CHILD: Adam Mitchell, 33, of Canton, Ohio, is facing multiple charges, including Aggravated Indecent Assault of a Child and Indecent Assault of Person Younger than 13 Years of Age after an incident in February. According to the criminal complaint, each separate incident occurred when Mitchell was home alone with the victim, who at the time was 12 years of age, and was suppose to keep an eye on the child while her mother was at work.
