Franklin Township is currently accepting applications to fill the position of a full-time Police Chief. According to the township, it is recommended that applicants have 10 years or more of continuous experience in law enforcement and 5 years or more of continuous experience as a Second Line Supervisor, and an associate degree or better in Police Science or related field of experiences which demonstrate police management. According to a press release made available by the district this week, the Board of School Directors for the Ellwood City Area School District is seeking letters of interest and resumes to fill a vacancy for a two-year term on the School Board. Ellwood City Borough Council Approves Police Use of PepperBall Guns; Provides Update on Wampum Avenue Pump Station Project

During Monday night’s voting meeting, Borough Council approved a change order #1 from Pollard Land Services, Inc. in the amount of $98,000 for the purpose of milling and overlaying the full width of Wampum Avenue from Fifth Street to Madison Avenue Ext. and from Madison Ave. Ext. to the entrance of the access road. The Riverside Lions Club has kept busy over the past several weeks, raising funds, distributing supplies, and earning a prestigious award according to King Lion Chip Campbell. The Club had the opportunity to distribute school supplies to five different schools in our area. HUMAN REMAINS DISCOVERED: On November 14th at approximately 4:00 p .m., PA State Police responded to a wooded area adjacent to ST 422 in Pulaski Township, Lawrence County where human remains were discovered by a hunter. The remains have not been identified. The PA State Police continue to investigate.
