Roth Erupts For 51 Points, Wolverines Fall To Mohawk

Senior Joseph Roth poured in a career-high 51 points Friday Night but Ellwood City lost in a 82-77 shootout to the section-leading Mohawk Warriors. The 51 points set a school record, breaking the old mark of 48 set by Theron Colao in 2004. Roth scored 33 points in the second half, including 16 in the fourth quarter, as visiting Wolverinres attempted to rally from its first half deficit. Ellwood City trailed 42-27 at halftime. Lady Wolverines Knock Off Section Leading Lancers

Just days after the boys basketball team defeated Neshannock, the Ellwood City girls basketball team went on the road and upset the section-leading Lady Lancers 67-60 Thursday night. Five Wolverines scored in double figures in the sound victory as Ellwood City led throughout the contest in handing the Lancers (11-5 Overall, 5-1 Section 3A-1) their first section loss. Delaney Sturegon scored a team-high 16 points to pace the Wolverines offense. Elsie Sturgeon scored 14 points and Claire Noble posted 13 points in the victory. BC3 Announces President’s List, Dean’s List and Graduates for Fall 2023

Butler County Community College is proud to announce the names of students who have made the president’s list and dean’s list for the fall 2023 semester, as well as the names of those who have graduated recently. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: On the dates of January 16th and 17th, multiple victims have reported thefts in the area of Perry Highway and Frew Mill Road in Perry Township, Lawrence County. Through investigation, PA State Police have discovered that several wallets, mechanical tools, check books, and a firearm were taken from the vehicles that were unlocked and parked in driveways. Donation Made To ECPD K9 Fund and Youth Bureau Program

A $5,000 donation through the efforts of the KC Venezie Charitable Foundation and Mayor Anthony J. Court was made this week to the Ellwood City Police Department K9 Fund and Youth Bureau Program. The donation was provided to help support the police departments programs that assist with community protection and safety. The ECPD K9 Fund and its Youth Bureau program are a fully funded by donations. Funds are used for training, equipment, food and housing for the Ellwood City Police Department K9 dog, Nico. Reminder the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department Community Blood Drive is next Monday, January 29th. Roth Scores 31, Wolverines Knock Off Neshannock

Joseph Roth scored 31 points, including 23 in the second half, as Ellwood City knocked off Neshannock 54-47 Tuesday night at Lincoln High School. The victory avenges a December loss to the Lancers and puts Ellwood City (10-6 Overall, 5-2 Section 3A-1) only one section victory behind section co-leaders Mohawk and Neshannock.
