POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

BAD CHECKS: According to a criminal complaint, on August 17th, police were notified from the owner of The Store, located on Line Ave, that Laquita Thomas, 28, of New Brighton, cashed her payroll check at his business. He provided a copy of the check that was marked Return (Duplicate Presentment) with a $15.00 fee. This was to do with Ms. Thomas already depositing this check into her account using a mobile device the complaint relates. Wolverines Basketball Teams Each Collect Tournament Victories

A pair of big men led the offensive charge Wednesday night for the Ellwood City boys basketball team as they picked up a victory over Redbank Valley in the Mercer Christmas Tournament. Aaron Lake – who finished with a career high 22 points – and Joseph Roth combined to score 53 points in the Wolverines 77-71 victory. Ellwood City led 37-33 at halftime behind Lake’s 16 first half points. Ellwood City Wrestling Picks Up Victory Over Summit Academy

The Ellwood City Wrestling team improved their regular season record to 4-3 after its 48-18 victory over Summit Academy on Wednesday. Seven Wolverines wrestlers collected victories by pin fall on Wednesday. Cheyenne Berglund (114 lb), Logan Shriver (127 lb), Gavin McClure (139 lb), Shannon Sikes (145 lb), Colton Gullo (152 lb), Gabe Lilly (160 lb), and Evan Twedell (215 lb) all collected individual victories in their weight class match. All Aboard! Students Treated To A Special Christmas Program Aboard “Ellsworth”

In a unique, cooperative effort among the Ellwood City Area Historical Society, All Aboard Ellwood Inc., and the Ellwood City Library, kindergarten students from North Side Elementary School and second graders from Riverside Elementary School were treated to a special Christmas program aboard “Ellsworth,” the Ellwood City Area Historical Society’s replica trolley. Mrs. Rachel Biermeyer, an associate Librarian at the Ellwood City Library, read a Christmas story and sang songs with the children during their individual class’s 30 minute session aboard Ellsworth. North Side Students Give Back to Ellwood City Community

North Side Primary Students and Staff welcomed many Community Members and Partners to our school on Monday, December 18th. During the month of December, students are learning how good it makes all of us feel to GIVE. The students put this into practice when each classroom made a very special, giant sized Holiday Card thanking the local community agency and partner for the services they provide Ellwood City.
