Community Baby Shower To Be Hosted By Divine Grace Parish

A FREE community baby shower will be hosted by Divine Grace Parish (Holy Redeemer) in April. The shower is taking place on Sunday, April 14th at St Ferdinand Church in Cranberry Township. Pregnant and new moms in need of items are encourages to attend this event scheduled to take place from 2:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. The event features welcome gifts, raffles, appetizers and dessert, informational speakers, great giveaways, and community resources.  Need babysitting? New Advocacy Group Formed to Preserve Ewing Park, Oppose Planned Softball Field

A new advocacy group has been formed to preserve Ewing Park. The Citizens for Ewing Park Preservation (CEPP) group was announced during Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors Committee Meeting Monday evening. Chairperson for the group, Karen Mancini, is a resident of Beatty Street, which faces the old Ewing Park School property where the district has proposed and plans to construct a girls softball field. Bernstine to Host ‘Supporting Our Seniors’ February 10th

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) is inviting senior citizens, their families and caregivers to a “Supporting Our Seniors” event on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 10-11:30 a.m., at the Unionville Volunteer Fire Company. Playoff Bound Lady Wolverines Knock Off Beaver Falls 46-40

The playoff-bound Lady Wolverines knocked off Beaver Falls 46-40 Monday evening during its senior night game. Ellwood City pulled away in the second half after trailing at halftime. Kayla Jones scored a team-high 15 points, including 9-16 free throws. The junior connected on 7-10 free throws in the fourth quarter to help the Wolverines secure the crucial section victory. Fellow junior Delaney Sturgeon scored 13 points and connected on three 3-pointers in the victory. Senior Claire Noble finished with seven points. Ellwood City Family Center Offering Six-Week Indoor Soccer Session

Wolverines Wrestling Finishes 11th Overall At Buckeye Panther Classic

The Ellwood City wrestling team placed 11th overall recently at the Buckeye Local Panther Classic. The team was among 22 teams participating in the tournament at Buckeye Local High School in Ohio on Saturday, January 27th. Gavin McClure and Gabe Lilly each advanced to the championship finals in their respective weight classes to pace the Wolverines team efforts. McClure (132 pounds) was defeated by Jordan Noble (Bridgeport, OH) by pin and Lilly (144 pounds) fell to Max Fortier (Fairmont, WV) by decision in the championships matches.
