Nine Local Athletes Competing In PIAA Track & Field Championships

The relay team of Nick Wise, Bradley Custer, Drew Steffler, and Colten Crizer will be four of the six Ellwood City athletes competing in the PIAA Track & Field Championships this Friday and Saturday at the Seth Grove Stadium at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA. The 4×800 Meter relay team will be joined by WPIAL 300m hurdle champion Nick Franitti and female high jumper Delaney Sturgeon. Memorial Service Planned For ‘Skip’ Haswell, Jr.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will take place for Lloyd E. ‘Skip’ Haswell Jr. on Flag Day, Friday, June 14th, 2024 The celebration will take place at the Tatalovich Funeral Home, located at 3475 Broadhead Rd, Monaca, PA. The celebration will take place from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with Military Services to be held at 3:00 p.m at the funeral home. Haswell, Jr., passed away at the age of 79 on March 4th. Skip was born in Ellwood City and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964.


Hare Leads Panthers Past South Allegheny, Advancing to WPIAL Championship

The Panthers are one step closer to repeating, thanks in large part to Zach Hare. The 6’3″ junior struck out 11 batters across six scoreless innings to lead Riverside past South Allegheny 2-0 on Tuesday in the WPIAL Class 3A semifinals.  The top-seeded Panthers (16-1 Overall) advance to the WPIAL Class 3A Championship game against #7 seed Avonworth who defeated #14 Burrell 2-1 in 8 innings on Tuesday at North Allegheny. Little Miss Firecracker Pageant Set To Take Stage

Folino Stage is about to shine again with a lot of sparkle and spunk as 17 local ladies take the stage for the 7th annual Little Miss Firecracker Pageant. The show will begin at 11:15am after the raising of the flag, on Friday June 28th kicking off the Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food and Entertainment Festival. CCBC and Beaver County Airport Authority Announce Plans for 21st Century Aviation Facility

CHIPPEWA TWP. – Several years in the making, Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) and the Beaver County Airport (BVI) Authority task force announced plans to renovate and create a joint 21st Century aviation facility at the Beaver County Airport. The concept went before the Chippewa Township Planning Commission at their May 14 meeting. Bottom Of Lineup Carries Riverside Past South Park In WPIAL Quarterfinals

The bottom of the lineup helped Riverside cruise to a 11-1 mercy rule victory over South Park in the WPIAL Class 3A Quarterfinals on Monday at Neshannock High School. Sam Barber, Sean Hayes, and Christian Lucarelli combined for six of the Panthers’ 10 hits in the victory. The trio combined for three RBIs and two runs scored. Lucarelli also earned the victory on the mound for Riverside, going the full five innings, allowing one earned run and striking out seven batters.  He walked four and allowed only two hits.
