Louise Carroll Receives Proclamation From Mayor Court

Mayor Anthony J. Court proclaimed Saturday, April 29, 2023 as Louise Carroll day in Ellwood City. The mayor, along with Council President George Celli, presented a proclamation in her honor celebrating her 90th Birthday. Louise is a prominent writer for the Ellwood City Ledger that highlights different citizens of our community. Frankin Township Clean Up Day Is Saturday

Clean up your yard, clean up your home, and clean up your garage! Franklin Township residents are invited to participate in a township clean-up day planned for this Saturday, May 6, 2023. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and last until 2:00 p.m. for township residents. Residents can drop off trash at the Franklin Township Building located on Route 288 in Fombell. This cleanup event is for township residents only, with two (2) passes allowed per household. A pass is good for one (1) load. Fluharty, Sturgeon Earn 1st Place Finishes At MAC Track & Field Championships

Riverside’s Lexi Fluharty and Ellwood City’s Delaney Sturgeon each took home a 1st place finish in their respective event at the MAC Championships on Wednesday at Shenango High School. Fluharty, a junior, turned in a personal record time of 11:38.39 in the Girls 3200m Run to capture 1st place, shattering a 25-year-old school record in the process. Fluharty also finished 4th place in the 1600m Run with a time of 5:23.46. Fluharty swept the two distance running events at the Beaver County Track & Field Championships earlier this month. Borough of Ellwood City Announces Community Garden Coloring Contest Winners

The Borough of Ellwood City is proud to announce the winners of the Community Garden Coloring Contest. The coloring contest was open to all residents of Elwood City between the ages of 4 and 12 and was hosted by the Department of Public Works. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

FIREARM SALE OR TRANSFER: On March 8th at approximately 4:21 p.m., a 35-year-old male from New Castle attempted to purchase a pistol from Dunham’s Sports, but was denied the transaction. According to the police report, the suspect was previously sentenced for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor of the first degree, prohibiting the transaction. When asked upon the official Firearms Transaction Record, the suspect failed to disclose this information. It is noted that the same suspect was also denied a previous attempt to purchase a shotgun from Walmart in July 2021 and was also denied the transaction for similar reasons. Both…

Mayor Court’s Beautification Awards Set To Begin

Ready, Set, Spring! Mayor Anthony J. Court will once again be doing beautification awards for Ellwood City. This is the 14th year of this successful program. There will be six winners and each will be awarded a gift certificate from a local restaurant and yard sign to display.
