Phyllis Jean   Main Gordon, 89, of Ellwood City,  passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, January 31, 2018 at the Avalon Nursing Center in New Castle, after an extended illness. She was born in Ellwood City on May 5 1928 to the late Curtis  and Edith Majors  Main. She was a longtime member of  Park Gate Baptist Church. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her  children and  grandchildren. She was married for over 43 years to her late husband, Donald L. Bernard Wise Carbeau, 92, of Ellwood City (Marion Township, Beaver County), passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 28, 2018.  He was at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  Ben was born in Ellwood City on April 1, 1925 to the late Charles William Carbeau and the late Florence Wise Carbeau.   He was a 1943 graduate from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City.  He went on to earn  a B.S.  degree in Commerce from Penn State University in 1950. Lydia M. Simmons, 81, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, January 19, 2018 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler. She was born in Zelienople PA on March 28 1936 to the late Charles Mathes  and Lydia Josephine Davidson.   She also was preceded by her stepfather, Scotty Davidson. Lydia was preceded in death by her late husband, Herman Simmons, who died in 1980, and by her longtime companion, Earl R. Edinger, who died in 1995. George  L. “Butch” Dwyer, 76, of  Ellwood City (Franklin Township), passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening,  January 16 2018 at  The Grove at Harmony  PA. He was born in Ellwood City  on April 4 1941  to the late George W.  and  Alberta  Geary    Dwyer. George  graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City. He  was a machine operator at the former Ellwood City Knitting Mill for over 25 years. George  enjoyed riding bikes, and mowing  grass.  He especially loved his  family. Albert W. Poholsky, 96, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 7 2018 at his home. He was born in Sagamore PA,    on  November 29 1921, to the late Stephen  and Anna Gaborack  Poholsky. Al graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City,  and Geneva College with a B.S. in accounting. He served his country as a medic during World War II in the US Army Air Corps and earned the rank of sergeant. Nancy L. Hazen, 77, of Ellwood City (Perry Township), passed away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her family, on Monday evening, December 11, 2017. She was born in Ellwood City on March 6 1940, daughter of the late Harry and Ellen Lutz Stewart. Nancy  worked  at the Ellwood Knitting Mills  and  Pittsburgh Mailing Service in Cranberry. She was married  for over 60 years to her husband, Paul L. Hazen. Nancy served her community, by serving on the Perry Township, Lawrence County  Elections Board for 48 years. Patricia A. Leonhardt , 75, of  New Castle,  (Neshannock Township)  passed away Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at her residence. Patricia was born in New Castle PAon December 26, 1941 to the late Russell and Anne Weppler McKnight. She married the late Robert P. Leonhardt, Jr.,  who preceded her in death on November 14, 2016. Patricia had worked in clerical department at the former Shenango Pottery in New Castle. Helen Muntean Oliver, 87, of  North Tower Road, (Franklin Township),  Fombell,   died peacefully at home on  Tuesday evening, November 21 2017, surrounded by her family. Born March 5, 1930 in Canton, Ohio, Helen was the daughter of the late Nick Muntean Sr.  and the late Elizabeth Toda Muntean.   She was a member of the Park Alliance Church (Christian and Missionary Alliance)  in Ewing Park where she helped in the kitchen for many years and was known for always baking delicious cookies for friends and family.
