Albert Joseph Whalen, 94, of Ellwood City, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at UPMC McCandless. Born in Ashland, Pennsylvania on October 25, 1928, Albert was the son of the late Albert and Marie Althoff Whalen. After high school, Albert attended the Williamson College of the Trades where he earned his degree in brick masonry.  After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a military police officer during the Korean War.  Once he was honorably discharged, he attended Florence Alabama Teachers College and became a Philadelphia police officer for eighteen years.  Albert was…

Tracy M. Edinger, 62, of Ellwood City passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born in Beaver Falls on August 22, 1960, Tracy was the daughter of the late Jack B. Eaton and Eleanor Jean Rambo Eaton of Ellwood City.  She was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and loved the time spent with her family. Hubert L. Reed, 91, of Fombell passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at UPMC Presbyterian. Born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania on April 18, 1931, Hubert was the son of the late James and Fern Deal Reed.  He is survived by his wife, the former Joann Sumey, whom he married in August of 1952.  He retired from Halstead where he worked as a welder and was also President of the Union Local 7032.  Hubert was the founder of the Fombell Lancers Marching Band.  A veteran of the United States Army, he played the drums in the 8th Army Band in Germany….

Born on August 5, 1948 in Ellwood City Ray was the son of the late Pasquale A. “Pat” and Ann (Galati) Venezie. Ray, a proud veteran of the United States Army, faithfully served his nation for 20 years as a combat engineer and non-commissioned officer club manager. Valarie Jean Viccari, 73, of Ellwood City passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at UPMC Jameson Hospital following a brief illness. Valarie was born October 30, 1949 in Ellwood City. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Lou Lembo Ferrante. Valarie was a graduate of Lincoln High School and later in life married her late husband Martin “Buck” Viccari. Occupationally, she was a Jack-of-all-trades, working in multiple capacities, including working as a roofer and then as a cashier and assistant supervisor at the West Pointe Mint.  Her longest held position was in New York at a glass…

Frances Buccelli, 94, of New Castle (formerly of Ellwood City), passed away at UPMC Jameson on Thursday, March 9, 2023 surrounded by her family. Born in Universal, PA on June 18, 1928, Frances was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Ortz Yvorra.  She married Carmen Buccelli on June 5, 1948 and they enjoyed forty eight years together until he preceded her in death on May 22, 1997.  She was a member of Holy Redeemer Church.  Frances was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.  She enjoyed many things including cooking, baking, making pizza and bingo- but…

Minnie Jo Lutz, 71, of Wayne Township, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at PAM Health Specialty Hospital in Brighton Township. Born in Finleyville, PA on August 8, 1951, Minnie was the daughter of the late Rudy and Betty Patton Kelosky.  She married Ronnie Lutz on December 3, 1994.  Minnie loved to paint and take walks with her dog.  She enjoyed gardening as well.  But most of all, Minnie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Richard E. “Rick” Higley, 68, of Wayne Township, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023 at UPMC Passavant.
