Borough Of Ellwood City Advertising Board Vacancies

Ellwood City Borough Council is advertising the vacancies on the following Boards and Commissions of Ellwood City Borough: Zoning Hearing Board Alternate, Planning Commission, Economic Development Authority, Library Board, Board of Health, and the Recreation Board. Any Borough resident that is interested in serving on any of the above positions is asked to submit a letter interest to the Borough Secretary. You can address the letter to 525 Lawrence Avenue, Ellwood City. All letters are due/must be postmarked on or before 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018. Star Wars Comes To The Ellwood Library On Saturday

The 501st Legion known as Vader’s Fist promotes volunteer work through quality costumed appearances nationwide relating to Star Wars. Ellwood City Library has hosted the group every two years since its 100th anniversary in 2014 and will continue to entertain the group this weekend. On Saturday, November 10th beginning at 1:00pm, the group will appear in the Ellwood City Area Public Library program room, starting the event off with Star Wars Trivia. (Ellwood City) – Richard Hogue’s family knows they can never bring him back, but they have chosen to turn their pain into saving lives by hosting a blood drive in his memory. Bernstine Announces $225,000 in School Safety Grant Awards for Area Schools

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced that $225,000 in funding has been awarded to nine school districts in the 10th Legislative District to help improve student safety through a new grant program established by lawmakers earlier this year. The School Safety and Security Grant Program provides grants to school districts, intermediate units, area vocational-technical schools, charter schools and private residential rehabilitative institutions for a wide variety of projects to improve school safety. Wampum Announces Annual Christmas Parade

It’s that time again and plans are underway for the 46th annual Wampum Area Christmas Parade. The parade will be held on Saturday, December 1st at 1:00 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Wampum America Legion Post 749, American Legion Auxiliary, Wampum Lions Club, Wampum Area Women’s Club, and Wampum Area Business Association. Ellwood City United Fund Board’s Annual Campaign Continues Through November

The Ellwood City United Fund Board announced its 2019 annual campaign fund drive last month. The campaign started October 1, 2018 and will conclude January 31, 2019. The Boards Selection Committee has chosen six service agencies to seek funds for the year 2019. The Agencies selected: City Rescue Mission, L.A.R.K. Enterprises, People-in-Need, Ellwood City Public Library, Human Services-Unicenter, and Rita Hazen Education Foundation. The Boy and Girl Scouts will receive an annual donation to fund the various programs that promote scouting. The Allocation Committee will review the agencies needs and allocate funds in January 2019. Penn State Cooperative Extension Offers ServSafe Food Safety Certification

NEW CASTLE, PA – According to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, licensed food establishments must have all persons in charge successfully complete a food safety training class. Completing the necessary training and passing the associated exam brings licensed food establishments into compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) Food Employee Certification Act. Man Arrested Near Portersville Trafficking $2.5M of Meth and Cocaine

PITTSBURGH – A West Virginia man has been arrested and charged in federal court in Pittsburgh with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute large quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine after his arrest near Portersville, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced Thursday. The criminal complaint, filed on October 22, charges Durell Anthony Jones, 33, of Fairmont, West Virginia, with drug conspiracy, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
