The Senate Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee today approved two bills included in the “Farming First” legislative package that will help promote and support Pennsylvania’s agriculture industry, according to Committee Chairman Senator Elder Vogel (R-47). Bernstine Bill Would Repeal Dormant PA Wealth Tax Law

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania House of Representatives this week approved legislation, authored by Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence), which would repeal a dormant law that he says could be used as a gateway to implement a state wealth tax on personal property. Mercer County 4-H Benefit Auction

Mercer County 4-H will hold its annual benefit auction on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the Mercer County 4-H Park, located on Route 19, 1.5 miles north of Mercer. Festivities begin with the kitchen opening at 5:30 p.m. and the auction beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Show Arena. This event helps raise money to support the Mercer County 4-H Program. Proceeds help fund educational materials, programs, trips, and seminars, and to maintain, upgrade and improve our 4-H Park. Junior High Softball Team Gets Lit Up By Armstrong; Record Falls To 6-2

As Armstrong entered the bottom of the fourth inning to hit, they held a 4-1 advantage. 15 batters later, the Lady Wolverines were getting on the bus and heading home with a 16-1 defeat that was ended by the mercy rule in that same 4th inning. Ellwood City/Ellport resident Eric Rayner kicked off his “Save the Ellwood City Fireworks” campaign receiving his first donations towards his goal of 5,000.00. Making the first donations and pictured below were (left to right) Justin Neupauer of Alborn Tire Sales, Councilman George Celli, Ellwood City Mayor Anthony Court, Councilwoman Marilyn Mancini, Lt. They say that all good things must end. For the Lady Wolverines, their 25 game winning streak dating back to April of 2017 was snapped by the Laurel Spartans. The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County has opened their Garden Hotline for the 2019 Season. The Master Gardeners of Lawrence County can answer questions on a variety of topics including growing vegetables, fruits, ornamentals and turf grass, plant identification, pruning, and insect and disease problems. Advice encourages the use of integrated pest management and environmentally sound practices.
