Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing single-lane alternating traffic on the Wampum Road (Route 288) Bridge in Wayne Township and Wampum Borough, Lawrence County, will continue Monday, March 2 weather permitting. Single-lane alternating traffic will occur on the Route 288 bridge over the Beaver River between Main Street and River Road from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through Friday, March 6. Bernstine Announces State Funding for School Safety Enhancements at Area School Districts

ELLWOOD CITY – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced the School Safety and Security Committee has awarded $53.7 million in School Safety and Security Grants to school districts, vocational schools, intermediate units and charter schools across the state. The 17-member committee within the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency was created as part of Act 44 of 2018, a comprehensive school safety law passed in 2018. Ellwood Area Egg Hunt Committee will be holding its 25th community Easter Egghunt for all area children ages 10 and under. Under Construction: Mount Airy Falters, Malls Now Make Way For Mini-Casinos In PA

Mini-casinos seemed so promising back in October 2017 when gaming expansion legislation authorized licenses for 10 satellite casinos. Just think: The creation of 10 smaller casinos scattered throughout the state would mean millions in new license auction fees for Pennsylvania, additional gambling revenue streams and more casino jobs. Implicit in the mini-casino legislation, there would then be a total of 23 brick-and-mortar gambling facilities. That would have been 13 regular casinos or racinos plus the 10 new mini-casinos. Evans City Man Pleads Guilty to Robbing NexTier Bank in Zelienople

PITTSBURGH, PA- A former resident of Evans City, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty in federal court to a bank robbery charge, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced today. Chad Vaughan, 33, pleaded guilty to one count before United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon. In connection with the guilty plea, the Court was informed that Vaughan robbed the NexTier Bank, located at 226 South Main Street, in Zelienople, on October 23, 2018, of $2,065.00.
