Gino Biondi led Ellwood City to a 5-4 win over Shaler in the nightcap of the 71st Ellwood City Little League Tournament on Tuesday night. The victory will advance Ellwood City to next play Laurel on Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. On Tuesday, Biondi slashed an RBI-double in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a 4-4 tie to give Ellwood City the winning margin. 71st Ellwood City Little League Tournament Classic Begins Monday

The 71st Ellwood City Little League Tournament Classic will begin on Monday, July 25 at Freidhoff Field in the Ewing Park Baseball Complex. The tournament, which began in 1952, is the second oldest Little League tournament in the nation next to the Little League World Series which celebrates its’ 75th tournament this season. Eight teams will compete for the title in the double-elimination tournament. U.S. Attorney Chung Announces HIDTA Designation for Lawrence County

United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung announced this week that Lawrence County has been officially designated as a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) by the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy. Senate Passes 2022-23 State Budget that Cuts Taxes, Funds Essential Services

HARRISBURG – The Senate approved a $45.2 billion General Fund Budget for Fiscal Year 2022-23 that meets the needs of Pennsylvanians today without creating multi-billion-dollar budget deficits in the future, according to Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47), who voted for the measure. Senate Bill 1100 now goes to the governor’s desk for enactment into law. The $45.2 billion budget, which also includes federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, represents a 2.9% increase over the previous year’s spending – and $500 million less than Gov. Approximately 250 Columbia Gas Customers Are Experiencing Natural Gas Outage

According to an alert from Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania made available to the borough, approximately 250 customers are experiencing a natural gas outage in the Ellwood City area as of Thursday afternoon. The outage affects customers on Aetna Drive, Argonne Boulevard, Cavalier Court, Crabapple Lane, Crestview Drive, Dover Lane, June Lee Street, Meadowridge Drive, Peach Street, Plymouth Lane, Sewall Court, Skyline Drive, Sunset Boulevard, and Walnut Drive. Columbia Gas technicians are on site, and repairs are underway. Local Churches History Slated As New Historical Society Project

Andrew Kindle, Historical Society First Vice President, was appointed by President Everett Bleakney to head up the latest society project – Local Churches History. The project will collect information from churches that are in our collection zone of about a ten mile radius. The Juried Art Show is pleased to return to the 2022 Ellwood City Festival.
