Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Monday, August 15, at 1:30 p.m. – Afternoon Book Discussion Group for Adults. Pie Festival!

The Annual Pie Festival hosted by the Lincoln Blue Band will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25 at Helling Stadium. The gates will open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. This is a special event to kick off the Blue Band’s fall entertainment. All Blue Band members and fall sport team members will be announced. Each member will receive a free piece of pie. Mayor Presented with Gold Watch

Ellwood City Mayor Anthony Court was recognized by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association for outstanding achievements in High School athletics in his 32 years of service. He was presented with a gold watch at the Awards banquet held at the Hilton in Harrisburg on August 6, 2016. Court has officiated numerous state play-off games including Western State finals and PA State finals in his illustrious 32 year career. Court is also in three Sports Hall of Fame, Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame for his softball playing ability, Lawrence County Sports Hall of Fame as a baseball and softball player and the Pittsburgh…

Wayne Township School Reunion Set for Sept. 17

The Wayne Township Consolidated School Reunion will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church. All former students, staff, teachers and spouses are invited. Pleas bring a covered dish. Ham and chicken, drinks, dessert, and table service will be provided. Veterans’ Specialists to Visit Gibbons’ Office Next Week

To assist veterans and their families, state Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, today announced he will host veterans’ specialists in his Ellwood City office. Gibbons said Stephanie Bengoa and Ryan Paglia will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at his Ellwood City office, located at 438 Line Ave., to lend help to veterans and their families. Bengoa of the American Legion Veterans Assistance Program will be in Gibbons’ office to assist veterans with understanding what benefits they have earned, filing appeals to existing claims, enrolling in the Department of Veterans Affairs health care system and any…
