CCBC Nursing Alumna Helps Patient Attend College for the First Time

Monaca, PA – Ms. Dolores Myers always wanted to go to college but never had the opportunity until the age of 85. Turkey Dinner

First United Methodist Church, located at 416 Crescent Ave, Ellwood City, PA 16117, is hosting their 39th annual turkey dinner on Saturday November 5 from 4p.m.-6p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids aged 5-10, and free for children under 5. Gibbons resolution designates October as ‘Agent Orange Awareness Month’

HARRISBURG, Oct. 24– State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D- Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, is pleased that the House of Representatives today unanimously adopted his resolution (H.R. 1088) designating October as “Agent Orange Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. “Thousands of veterans have died as the result of exposure to Agent Orange and other herbicides, and thousands more still suffer from cancer and other health disorders caused by exposure to Agent Orange,” Gibbons said. “Veterans with Agent Orange-related health problems live with the knowledge that genetic damage resulting from exposure to Agent Orange may be handed down through generations.” Gibbons said the Vietnam War, which many of…


Holiday Open House

Market Place on Main will be hosting a Holiday Open House on Friday November 4 from 10a.m. to 8p.m. and 5 from 10a.m. to 6p.m. In preparation for the festivities the Market Place will be closed from October 25-November 3.


Wampum Area Christmas Parade

It’s that time again and plans are underway for the “44th” Annual Wampum Area Christmas Parade. Gibbons announces $225,000 grant for Camp Allegheny improvements

HARRISBURG, Oct. 24 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, announced the Salvation Army will be able to make $1.4 million in improvements to Camp Allegheny, Wayne Township, Lawrence County, thanks to a $225,000 Commonwealth Financing Authority award that Gibbons secured this week. “The camp plays host for adventures of all ages, children to senior citizens. The camp is a vital part of our community and I know this state investment in camp activities will provide fun-filled opportunities, spiritual growth and lifetime memories,” Gibbons said. Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 officers and members celebrated Columbus Day with their annual dinner on Wednesday, October 5 at 5p.m. at the Wolverine Restaurant. Football is a four quarter sport and has been such for many years.  The Wolverines and Panthers found out last night during the 31st rendition of the “Riv-Ell Cup” rivalry match-up between the Riverside Panthers 5-2 (5-1)  and the Ellwood City Wolverines 0-7 (0-6) that sometimes four quarters is not enough to determine the victor. The 31st match-up between Riverside and Ellwood City came down to two crucial drives, but these drive did not actually occur during regulation time – the game between the Panthers and Wolverines had to be determined…


Tax Office Hours

The Tax Office located in the municipal building will be open Monday October 31 from 9a.m.-3p.m., this is the last day for installments. In November, the tax office will be open only on Wednesdays from 9a.m.-1p.m. On December 2, the tax office will be back to regular hours; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9a.m. to 3p.m.
