Dollars for Scholars: Ellwood City Wolves Club Awards $14,930.00 in Scholarships

NORTH SEWICKLEY TWP.- Students, family and friends, along with the Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II members, gathered to celebrate the awarding of scholarships at their annual scholarship dinner on May 20 at the Connoquenessing Country Club. The Wolves Club announced that $14,930 in scholarships will be awarded this year to a total of ten Lincoln and Riverside seniors to help fund their college education. POLICE: Unsolicited Electric Department Calls Reported As A Scam

According to a new release made available by the Ellwood City Police Department on Tuesday afternoon, there have been suspicious phone calls made in attempts to collect money on resident electrical service. The Ellwood City Police Department and the Ellwood City Electric Department have received complaints from local residents who have been receiving telephone calls from someone posing as a representative of Ellwood City Electric Department. The caller then threatens to terminate the residents’ electrical service due to delinquency on their electric bill.  The caller then demands payment over the phone. Be A Superhero Relay For Life -Saturday, June 2, 2018, 1:00 – 10:00 P.M. Mayor Court has announced that once again Ellwood City residents will turn their properties into beautiful landscapes, bring the neighborhoods back to life for everyone to enjoy. This will be the 8th year that Mayor Court will present “Beautification Awards” and restaurant certificates to six (6) area residents who are nominated for taking pride in their properties throughout Ellwood City. New Dimension Comics Hosts 3 Rivers Comicon For 3rd Year!

Featuring comic book vendors, publishers, and over 100 artists, 3 Rivers Comicon returns to West Mifflin.  The convention will take place Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20, 2018. House Approves Bernstine Bill to Improve Access to Care in Mental Health Emergency

HARRISBURG – Marking May as Mental Health Awareness Month, the state House of Representatives today voted unanimously to approve legislation, authored by Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence), to remove bureaucratic barriers to behavioral health services for individuals seeking immediate treatment. House Bill 1997 would allow patients in crisis to be instantly “deemed eligible” for care at a behavioral health facility while their Medical Assistance application is being reviewed. “When behavioral health emergencies arise, individuals who are unable to receive immediate care at the appropriate facility are forced to incur costly bills for emergency room visits, or in worse-case scenarios, they become…
