On Sunday, February 14, 2021, David “Dave” A. Minett, loving husband, father of two, and Wahlker’s “Pa”, passed away peacefully at his home in Ellwood City, PA at age 66. Dave was born on September 20, 1954 in Ellwood City, PA to the late William and Nell (Richards) Minett. He was a graduate of Riverside High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock University in 1976. On November 26, 1977, Dave married JoAnn (Leonberg). Shirley Rae Hairhoger Lucy Moore, 65, of Palm Bay, Florida passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2021. Born July 4, 1955 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. Hairhoger and Barbara L. Hozick Hairhoger, who survives. Shirley Rae attended Lawrence County Vo-Tech graduating in 1973 and attended Pen State. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and her puppy, Sally Mae. William E. Cummins, 72, of North Beaver Township passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital in Boardman following a short illness. Born June 16, 1948 in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late Clarence K. and Florence E. McClurg Cummins. He was married to Jane E. Zeh Cummins for 52 years. Bill served in the United States Navy during Vietnam and Desert Shield and retired as a Sr. Chief Petty Officer. Born November 14, 1932 in Wayne Township, he was the son of the late Arthur F. and Minnie Weisenstin Wehman. He was married to Martha Louden on May 26, 1956. They were married over 64 years. She survives. Stephen was formerly employed by Michael Baker’s and Agway in New Castle. He was a member of the Chewton Christian Church. Stephen had a quirky sense of humor. Darlene L. Schrantz, 77, of West Pittsburg passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at UPMC – Jameson Hospital. Although in ill health, death was unexpected. Born February 18, 1943 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Goldie Young Boughter. Darlene was affiliated with the Grace Bible Church. She enjoyed watching the Wheel of Fortune and Days of our Lives, shopping with her granddaughters, and face timing with her grandkids. Francis Gerald “Jerry” Sapienza, 78, of Ellwood City passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at his home. Born June 11, 1942 in Zelienople, he was the son of the late R. Samuel and Jennie Tomei Sapienza. He was married to Gloria Panella Port Sapienza. They married February 16, 2009. Jerry was a lifelong entrepreneur which included planning and developing a housing complex, operating Sapienza Super Market, building and running farm markets in Harlansburg and Zelienople. Marion Louise Downey, 88, of Wampum passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at her residence following an extended illness. Born June 12, 1932 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Locke Martin. She married the late Ernest E. Downey Sr. on March 5, 1949. He died on July 10, 1989. Marion was a member and past president of the Wampum American Legion Auxiliary. She retired after over 20 years from Joseph’s Supermarket.
