ECPD Introduces New Vehicle For K-9 Program

The Ellwood City Police Department brought home its new police K9 vehicle this week. The 2021 Dodge Charger was purchased utilizing funds raised through Reed Services as well as assistance other generous donors and fundraisers. Reed Services, Sgt. Michael McBride as well as K9 Officer Richard Kruger will be going to Shallow Creek Kennel on February 7, 2022 to meet with the representatives and to choose the new K9 for the Ellwood City Police Department. Justin Hand Ties Tiffin University Single Round Record, Helping Dragons Finish 4th at Doc Spragg

Riverside graduate Justin Hand tied the Tiffin University record with a 6-under par 66 at the Doc Spragg Invitational hosted by the University of Findlay in September. Hand led the Dragons to a 4th place finish at the invitational held on Tuesday, September 21st. The Dragons shot a invite-best 290 in round three, improving from 293 in round one and 291 in round two. Indianapolis won with 851, followed by Missouri-St. Louis with 868 and Findlay with 869. THEFT: According to a criminal complaint, Jason Mulig, 46, of Ellwood City, is charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking after an incident on November 1, 2021. According to the report, at approximately 5:38 p.m. police were dispatched to Dollar General on Lawrence Avenue, Ellwood City for the reported theft. The victim advised police she had two twenty dollar bills stolen from her purse. The victim stated she leaves her purse in the front of the store, under surveillance, while she is working in the store. BC3 Volleyball Team Finishes 6th Overall In National Championships

The Butler County Community College volleyball team finished the 2021 season with the program’s 12th consecutive winning record and first national ranking since 2016, titles in its conference, region and district, and a sixth-place finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III championships in Rochester, Minn., on Saturday. The 8th Annual Richard Hogue Blood Drive was held recently in memory of Richard Hogue to give the gift of life to others. “It was a wonderful event, eight years of keeping Richard Hogue’s memory alive,” said Mayor Anthony J. Congratulations to the 2021 winners of the annual EllwoodCity.org Halloween Costume Contest! The grand prize winner of the EllwoodCity.org contest was Lorenzo Geminiani, 9 months, and our second place winner was Connor Mannion.
