Ellwood City Wrestling MAC Tournament Results

The Ed Driscoll MAC Wrestling Tournament is one of the biggest wrestling tournaments that features some of the best talent from all around the country. The 24 team tournament saw Quaker Valley crowned as top overall team win with 223 points, beating out other powerhouse teams such as West Allegheny, Laurel, Montour, and Central Valley.  Ellwood City finished 11th overall with 39.0 points. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: New Castle Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on January 8th on West Lawrence Avenue in Wayne Township. A 2019 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling too fast downhill and swerved to miss an animal and then left the north side of the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck the left front end of a parked and unoccupied 2004 Ford F250. The Chevrolet came to a final rest on the north berm of West Lawrence Avenue. Lincoln High School Releases Updated COVID-19 Policies

With the new COVID-19 variant lurking, schools are now taking a closer look at their policies and making changes they see fit. Lincoln High School has made some changes and updates to their mask policies and what to do about positive cases. These policies will go into effect starting Friday, January 14th. The masks will remain in the school. Students and staff who are identified as possible exposure IN SCHOOL ONLY, can avoid quarantine by masking while in school for 10 calendar days. As fall turned to winter, the weather got colder and everyone entered a holiday mode. Holy Redeemer Golf Bash Cancelled

According to a Facebook post made by the Ellwood City Wolves and Holy Redeemer, the Golf Bash that was originally scheduled to take place on January 16th has now been cancelled. After receiving a letter from Bishop David Zubick on the amount of rising COVID-19 cases in the area, the decision was made to cancel this in person event. “Splash Brothers” Alexander and Joseph Roth combined to score 43 points Friday night to power the visiting Wolverines to a 56-34 victory over Neshannock. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

TERRORISTIC THREATS: According to a criminal complaint, on December 24th Patrick McCloskey, 41, of Ellwood City, was charged with Terroristic Threats With Intent To Terrorize Another. At approximately 9:10 a.m., ECPD was requested by McCloskey’s mother to come to Crescent Avenue due to threats made by McCloskey towards her and her other son. It was learned by police of an active bench warrant for McCloskey’s arrest. Holy Redeemer’s Cash & Golf Bash Less Than Two Weeks Away

Less than two weeks are left until Holy Redeemer’s Golf Bash takes place on Sunday, January 16th.
