Lawrence County Man Convicted In Newborn’s Death Dies At Rockview State Prison

NOTE: This article originally published on www.centredaily.com A Lawrence County man detained at Rockview state prison and convicted of conspiring to kill a newborn died Friday, the state Department of Corrections said Monday. Christopher Kennedy, 42, was serving an 18 to 36-year sentence after he was pleaded no contest in June to conspiracy to commit third-degree murder. The plea meant he accepted the conviction, but did not expressly admit he committed the crime. He pleaded guilty to one felony count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. The Ellwood City Girls Basketball team used an impressive 23-3 first quarter spurt to cruise to a 47-15 victory over rival Riverside on Tuesday night. Three Wolverines finished in double figures led by senior guard Kyla Servick who finished with a game-high 12 points. Ellwood City Little Wolverines Announces 2022 Cheer Boot Camp

The Ellwood City Little Wolverines will hold a cheer boot camp over the course of three Saturdays in late February and early March The camp is for children currently in grades 2nd through 5th and will be held on Saturday, February 19th, Saturday, February 26th, and Saturday March 5th from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on each Saturday. The camp is scheduled to take place at Diamond Dance Academy, located at 310 1st Street, in Ellwood City.  The cost is $35.00 per child which includes a t-shirt. Ellwood City used a decisive first quarter to race out to an early lead in its eventual 60-45 victory over rival Riverside Friday evening at Riverside High School. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: Michael Henry, 40, of Ellwood City is charged with Theft and Receiving Stolen Property after an incident on January 13th. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 7:43 a.m., officers were contacted by the manager at Seven-Eleven who stated a male walked into the convenience store and stole a donation jar from the front counter and exited the store. Anna Elizabeth (Jaworsky) Hobel, 99, of Aiken, South Carolina, formerly a longtime resident of Slippery Rock Township, went to her heavenly home Saturday morning, January 22, 2022, in Silver Bluff Grove. Mrs. Hobel was born March 17, 1922, in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania to Fred and Mary Jaworsky. She enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, playing cards, spending time with family and friends. Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall Memorial Exhibit Needs Volunteers

The Ellwood City American Legion Post 157 is preparing to host the Vietnam Moving Wall in Ellwood City on August 17-22, 2022 and is need of volunteers. The Moving Wall is a portable, half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. that has been touring the country for over 30 years. Lee Bucci, Sr., 90, from Homosassa, Florida passed away on January 17, 2022 from heart complications at Bayfront Health Hospital in Crystal River, Florida after a short two-day stay. He was a former employee of the formal George K. Garrett Line of Ellwood City, PA. He had various other jobs in his younger years.
