Holler Scores 3 TDs, Riverside Routs Ellwood City 41-0

Mason Holler accounted for three touchdowns Friday night as the host Panthers routed crosstown rival Ellwood City 41-0 in the season opener. Holler rushed for 18-yard and 12-yard touchdowns in the first half and then returned the opening kick off of the second half 91-yards for a touchdown. Aiden Gaydosz collected two scoring strikes and Alex Sprankle plunged in from two yards to round out the scoring for Riverside. Gaydosz found Bron Paxton on a 57-yard strike in the second quarter and connected with Matthew Santillo on a 33-yard scoring play in the third quarter. Holler finished with 103 yards…

PHOTOS: Annual Lincoln High School Band Pie Festival

It’s not back-to-school season without the annual pie festival! The Lincoln High School Marching Blue Band hosted its Pie Festival Thursday evening at Helling Stadium in Ewing Park. The band performed selections from pre-game and halftime shows and all fall sports teams were introduced. The Wolverines varsity football team opens up its 2026 regular season traveling across the mighty Connoquenessing to face rival Riverside TONIGHT – Friday, August 28th at 7:00 p.m.

Lincoln High School Band Pie Festival Is TONIGHT!

The Annual Lincoln High School Band Pie Festival is tonight at 7:00 PM at Helling Stadium. The Blue Band will perform and the Fall Sports Teams will be announced. Gates for the festival open at 6:00 PM. Tickets are $5.00 and are available at the gate. Additionally, student tickets are available in the main office for the Riverside/Ellwood City Football game Friday night. No student tickets will be sold at the gate. Presale student tickets are $2.00

Q&A: Wolverines Under Direction Of New Head Coach Sean McConahy

The Ellwood City Wolverines football team will be under the guidance of new head coach Sean McConahy when they start their regular season on Friday. McConahy, a teacher in Ellwood City School District for the last 28 years and current science teacher at Lincoln High School, brings experience in the district, passion for football and conditioning, and coaching experience at one of more recent success stories in District 10 (Wilmington coaching staff). McConahy will look to continue the programs success as the Wolverines have made the playoffs three consecutive seasons but moved up from WPIAL Class 2A to Class 3A…

Borough of Ellwood City Announces 2026 Trick-or-Treat Date & Time

Mayor Anthony J. Court announced today that the Borough of Ellwood City Trick-or-Treat will be held on Saturday, October 31st , Halloween evening from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The day will also feature a Halloween Parade at 3:30 p.m., giving families and children an opportunity to show off their creative costumes before the trick-or-treating begins. “The safety of our children is a top priority,” said Court in a statement. “Parents are encouraged to accompany young trick-or-treaters, use reflective clothing or flashlights to increase visibility, and remind children to stay on sidewalks and cross streets carefully.” To help make Halloween…

PHOTOS: Panther Night 2026

The annual Panther Night was held Thursday evening at Riverside Memorial Stadium. Panther Night is a community event celebrating back to school and Fall sports teams and featured the Riverside Marching Band performing and the introduction of the student athletes. The event features food booths run buy many of the district booster organizations along with two food trucks and an array of apparel offerings available to help support student athletes as well. The Riverside Panthers Varsity Football team hosts cross town rival Ellwood City next Friday, August 28th at 7:00 p.m. to kick off its regular season.

Q&A: Ramsden Returns For Second Stint As Panthers Head Coach

Fran Ramsden returns for his second stint leading the Riverside football program ahead of the 2026 season which sees the Panthers return 14 seniors playing this year. Ramsden enters his 15th season coaching and returns to the head coach position after a two year stint in 2021-2022. Riverside finished its 2025 regular season 5-5 Overall and 4-3 in Midwestern Conference, earning a 10-seed in the WPIAL 2A Playoffs but was stymied 28-7 by #7 Apollo-Ridge and fell in its opening round contest last October. EC Boys Golf Improves To 3-0; Girls Golf Now 2-0

The Ellwood City boys and girls golf teams are both off to unbeaten starts to their 2026 seasons. The Wolverines boys team fired a third consecutive sub-200 team round on Tuesday afternoon at Del Mar, knocking off Shenango 192-227. Gino Biondi finished with team best round of 34 (-2) while Cam Keller (37, +1) and Luca Carsele (39, +3) finished with sub-40 rounds Tuesday.
