POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

SIMPLE ASSAULT: Davie Crawley, 55, of New Castle is charged with Simple Assault and Harassment after an incident occurring on May 16th. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 8:48 p.m., police were dispatched to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence on Massachusetts Drive and were advised that a 36-year-old female victim had traveled to her mothers house to retrieve an item when she heard Crawley yelling. Mayor Court Accepts Donation To Festival From Local Realtor

Mayor Anthony J. Court accepted a check from Bud Mazzant, a realtor with Berkshire Hathaway, in support of the Ellwood City Festival. Mazzant said he was proud to contribute to his friend Mayor Court and the Ellwood City community. “It’s people like Buddy Mazzant who help make this festival possible,” Mayor Court said in a statement. The mayor extends “Best wishes for another successful Festival.” This is the second year that Mazzant has come forward to donate to the festival.

COMEBACK KIDS: Ellwood City Rallies To Claim WPIAL 3A Championship

The comeback kids did it again. The Wolverines rallied for a third consecutive playoff game to knock off South Park 5-2 Wednesday afternoon at EQT Park in Washington to claim the WPIAL Class 3A Championship. Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, Ellwood City used small ball to take the lead as three consecutive squeeze bunts paid dividends for head coach Chris Weisz and the Wolverines. 2nd Annual Carter Huzinec Memorial Powerlifting Meet & Strongman Event Scheduled For June 6th

The 2nd Annual Carter Huzinec Memorial Powerlifting Meet & Strongman Event is scheduled to take place Saturday, June 6th. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the New Beaver Borough VFD, 898 Wampum New Galilee Road, in Wampum and is presented by Wampum Fitness and Carter4LifeCompany 501(c)(3). McQuistion Powers Wolverines Past Keystone Oaks; EC Qualifies For PIAA Playoffs

Amber McQuistion hit two home runs and tossed a complete game three-hitter to lead the Lady Wolverines to a 5-1 victory over Keystone Oaks Tuesday afternoon in the WPIAL Class 3A Consolation Game at North Allegheny High School. Wolverines Knock Off Riverside, Advance To WPIAL Championship Game.

The Wolverines rallied again! Ellwood City defeated defending WPIAL champion and cross-town rival Riverside 6-5 Thursday evening at Butler’s Pullman Park to advance to the Class 3A Championship game. Days after a come-from-behind victory over Burrell, the #3 seed Wolverines rallied again with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. 2026 Little Miss Firecracker Pageant Announced

The line up for the annual Little Miss Firecracker Pageant has been announced. The patriotic pageant will kick off the Ellwood City Festival on Friday, July 3rd at 11:00 a.m. on the entertainment stage in Ewing Park. “We are very excited to have so many bright personalities in this large group of 16 girls this year! It will be quite the show,” says Pageant Chair Jenn Greco. Lady Wolverines Shutout McGuffey, Advance To WPIAL Semifinals

Amber McQuistion threw a shutout to lead Ellwood City past McGuffey 3-0 on Monday at North Allegheny High School. The pitching was strong on both sides. McQuistion struck out seven and allowed only three hits, while the Lady Highlanders starter sat down eight. Riv-Ell Alumni Top 60 With BC3’s Class of 2026

A Wampum resident was the youngest graduate in Butler County Community College’s Class of 2026 and joined a record-tying 15 Riverside or Lincoln high school seniors who have earned a resume-building post-secondary credential from the college. Kennedy Eichler was 17 years and 9 months of age May 13, when BC3’s 58th commencement was held in the Field House on the college’s main campus in Butler Township. BC3’s Riv-Ell Entrepreneurship program Class of 2026 was its largest since its 15-graduate Class of 2024.
