The Ellwood City boys basketball team returns to the WPIAL Playoffs as a 9-seed while the Riverside Panthers boys basketball team earned a 14-seed in the 2026 WPIAL Class 3A Championships. ELLWOOD Group is proud to announce applications are open for its 2026 Industrial Maintenance Scholarship program. This year, multiple students pursuing a degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance or a related field, will each receive a scholarship up to $20,000 and the unique opportunity to launch their careers with ELLWOOD through its Industrial Maintenance Development Program. The Ellwood City boys basketball team was defeated 67-52 by Aliquippa at home Friday evening as part of its senior night. Kaleb Servick scored a game-high 19 points while Aaron Lake delivered a double-double (10 points, 15 reboounds) in defeat. The Lady Wolverines fell 58-25 to Quaker Valley on Thursday night at Lincoln High School on its senior night. Sophomore Jadyn Allwine led all Ellwood City scorers with seven points. THEFT: Gary Weir, 41, of Sharon is charged with Theft after an incident on November 21, 2025. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 7:00 p.m., a female victim reported several items of her personal property were stolen from her residence on Wayne Avenue. The victim explain her residence had caught fire and she was staying in a hotel but related that a shed on the property had an older model Kawaski ATV, a bicycle, and other miscellaneous items. The Riverside girls basketball team has clinched a playoff berth and wrapped up its regular season Thursday with a 52-13 victory over New Brighton. A pair of Emmas will now lead the charge for the Lady Panthers as they forge their way in to the WPIAL Class 3A Playoffs. “Emma Meyer is a tireless worker and Emma Stockman just comes up big game after game,” says first year head coach John Fruehstorfer. The Riverside Lions Club continues its community support through various programs and donations. The club offers a series of updates below spotlighting their recent efforts: To start things off the club made a donation to the Ellwood City Library Used Book Sale in the form of gift certificates to be given to any teacher asking for them.
