Roth Stuffs Stat Sheet, Wolverines Beat Beaver Falls

Joseph Roth stuffed the stat sheet as the Wolverines defeated Beaver Falls 66-41 Friday night at Lincoln High School. The senior big man finished with 24 points, 18 rebounds, and 11 assists. Roth scored 18 first half points as Ellwood City led by three points at halftime. Colton Crizer finished with 17 points (three 3 pointers) including a last second 3-pointer to beat the 3rd quarter buzzer that gave Ellwood City a 42-35 advantage. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

ASSAULT/BURGLARY: A 17-year-old teenager from Wampum is charged with Assault With a Weapon after a Burglary attempt on January 6th. According to a police report, and at approximately 1:51 a.m., police say he broke into a residence on McKim Way, Franklin Township, Beaver County and assaulted two people inside. PA State Police say a 41-year-old man who owned the home noticed a burglar walking down the stairs of his house, later identified as the 17-year-old boy. Longtime BC3 President Nick Neupauer Announces Plans To Retire At End of Year

Butler –  The president of Butler County Community College for nearly a third of its existence today announced plans for his departure from the 59-year-old institution of higher education. Lincoln High School graduate Dr. Nick Neupauer, 56, and BC3’s Chief Executive Officer for 17 years, wrote in an email sent today to BC3 employees that he will retire December. 31st. The college’s board of trustees is aware of his decision, is “working on a smooth transition plan” and will make further announcements regarding the position of president, Neupauer wrote. Stonecrest Business Park Project Among Finalists For PA Strategic Investments Program

The Stonecrest Business Park project in Wampum was recently announced as one of only 20 applicants moving forward in a Pennsylvania Strategic Investments to Enhance Sites Program. The program, administered by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development under the Pennsylvania First Program, provides grant funding to develop competitive sites and support relocation or expansion of businesses within the commonwealth. Congressman Mike Kelly Visits The Borough

Mayor Anthony Court welcomed Congressman Mike Kelly in the borough last Friday. Kelly was in the area and met with the mayor and Sgt. Michael McBride concerning grant funds for police funding. Court and McBride proposed several needs for the department and Congressman Kelly is trying to secure funds through grants. While in Lawrence County, the Congressman followed his visit to Ellwood City with a stop in Wampum to meet with Mayor Jesse Altman and local officials. Riverside Swimming Sets Records, But Defeated By Blackhawk

The Riverside boys team had their first official section meet of the season against Blackhawk last Thursday and, as expected, tensions were high and the cheering was loud. Although an individual team record was set and a relay team collected a major victory, the Riverside boys narrowly fell to Blackhawk 88-87. Joseph Roth broke the team record for the 200 Individual Medley with a 1:58.62. The Ellwood City girls basketball traveled across the mighty Connoqunessing River Thursday evening and earned a 62-40 victory over rival Riverside.
