75th Anniversary Game Now Scheduled For Tuesday, July 8th

Initially rescheduled due to a scheduling conflicts with the Lawrence County Baseball League Tournament of Champions Playoffs, the 75th Anniversary Game has now been rescheduled a second time due to pending inclement weather. The 75th Anniversary Game and ceremonies will now take place Tuesday, July 8th at 7:15 p.m. The Moose and Lions are still scheduled for Game One for the Ellwood City Little League Championship Series tonight at 7:15 PM at Freidhoff Field, weather permitting. The Folino Stage in Ewing Park glittered with patriotic sparkle & spunk on Friday as 10 local ladies competed for the 8th Annual Little Miss Firecracker Crown. Alexandria Smith was crowned the 2025 winner. Ella Fauzey was 1st runner-up and Cali Kline earned the Patriotic Spirit Award. June was quite the rainy month, but nonetheless a start of warmer temperatures and the summer season for many area residents. According to Rocket.com, homes in Lawrence County sold in June 2025 at an median price of $152,256.00, just 1.5% above what they sold for a year ago. Freidhoff, Oliastro To Be Among Honored Guests At 75th Anniversary Of Little League Celebration Monday

Cookie Freidhoff and Dan Oliastro will be among the honored guests at the 75th Anniversary of the Ellwood City Little League Celebration on Monday night at Freidhoff Field. Ellwood City organized the first Little League program in Lawrence, Beaver, Butler and Mercer Counties-becoming one of the first five programs in western Pennsylvania in 1950. Freidhoff is the daughter of Dick Freidhoff, one of the Little League organizers and one of the original managers in 1950. David J. Koach, 77

Following a brief illness David J. Koach, 77, of Portland Oregon, died June 23, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born in Ellwood City PA, he was the son of the late Glenn and Helenann (Tallon) Koach. Although moving to Portland in 1972, Dave always considered Ellwood City to be his home town. He came back often to visit family, neighbors, and friends by the score. Class reunions were a favorite along with a round or two of golf and stopping for pizza and a chili dog.
