The Club Hope Foundation is Hosting “A Concert of Hope” to benefit the Club Hope Foundation for all the work they do and to help those who have fought or are fighting cancer. VIDEO: Brake Failure Causes Crash, Killing One Teen

According to published reports and a video, a one vehicle crash late Saturday night resulted in the fatality of a Union teenager after brake failure left his car helplessly careening down Bridge Street. The accident happened around 9:45 p.m. on Wampum Avenue at Bridge Street. According to reports, police said the driver had been trying to use his hand brake to stop the vehicle, but that also failed. Park Avenue Resident Wins 6th Beautification Award

It was with great pleasure that Mayor Anthony J. Court presented the #6 Beautification Award Winners with a 2018 Award Winner Yard Sign and a gift certificate to a local restaurant. The recipients are Zeta Pesano and Corinne Rutter Borselli of Park Avenue. Their landscaping shows how much time and effort they put into making their property beautiful and eye catching to anyone who passes by. Club Hope Foundation Night at McDowell’s Inn

Jeff and Mary Sainato Wins Ellwood City 2018 Beautification Award

Mayor Court was honored to present the 5th 2018 Beautification Award on Saturday, to Jeff and Mary Sainato of Woodside Avenue. Along with a 2018 Beautification Award Winner sign, the Sainato’s received a gift certificate to a local restaurant. This is the 8th year for Mayor Court’s Beautification Award Program and it has been a huge success. PHOTOS: Ellwood City Festival

The Ellwood City Festival took place all weekend, there were competitions including the Little Miss Firecracker pageant and Ledger 10K race. Dia Rose Greco, daughter of Robert and Jennier Greco, was named the 2018 Little Miss Firecracker. She was dressed as a USO hostess and gave a salute to the crowd. Doug Petrik was the overall winner of the Ledger 10K race for the fourth consecutive year. His finish time was 35:35.6. Performances by local jazz, country and rock bands kept the music flowing all three days. The festival, as always, finished the weekend with fireworks provided by Zambelli International. Below…
