Ellwood City JR High Softball Team Remains Undefeated

The good news for Blackhawk was that they scored the first run of the game. The bad news was The Lady Wolverines scoring the next 18 runs to win in a 3 inning mercy rule shortened game Monday evening at Stiefel Park. Mollie Street led the offense with a triple and single. Kali Barnett also tripled off the fence in centerfield and Kyla Servick doubled. Aliya Garroway, Angie Nardone, Grace Balin, Jenna Vetica, and Kaylani Leos all contributed singles. Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Wednesday, May 9, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a program designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. An Ellwood City tradition continued Friday, May 4 at Sons of Italy Hall. For the 71st consecutive year Lincoln High School juniors, seniors and their guests enjoyed the after prom party provided by the Ellwood City After Prom Committee. The prom king and queen of the night were, King Jarrett Lubich and Queen Grace Blake. DJ Ken Raisor of Sabre David Entertainment provided the music for dancing. PHOTOS: Ellwood Softball Senior Night Cut Short By Rain

Thursday evening’s Ellwood City softball contest was called due to rain in the top of the second inning with the Wolverines leading 1-0 over Beaver Falls.  Senior Breonna Streit led off with a base hit and scored on an RBI single by Maria Ioanilli to give the Wolverines the early lead. Madi Krugh struck out two Tigers in her 1 1/3 innings before the rain forced the delay and cancellation. The Lady Wolverines (5-4 overall) are next scheduled for road contest next week, first at Hopewell on Wednesday, May 9th, and later traveling to New Castle on Thursday, May 10th. …

VIDEO: Nick Ottaviani Throws a Shutout As Riverside Defeats Avonworth

Nick Ottaviani didn’t allow a single run against Avonworth, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Riverside to a 4-0 victory on Wednesday Riverside opened up scoring in the first inning, when an error scored one run for Riverside. One bright spot for Avonworth was a single by Turner Grau in the fourth inning. Ottaviani earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Riverside. Ellwood City Yard Waste Pick Up

Yard waste pick up for Ellwood City is scheduled for the week of May 13. According to the Ellwood City Borough: YARD WASTE PICK UP: Green borough yard waste bins are also available for residents to dispose of their simple yard waste. Yard waste bins are available for purchase for $53.00 and can be purchased at the borough utility office or by calling 724-758-5576. Yard waste bins are collected on specified weeks throughout the calendar years. Dates are also provided on borough utility bills. 2018 Lincoln High School Prom “Written in the Stars”

The 2018 Lincoln High School Prom “Written in the Stars” will be held on Friday May 4th, 2018 at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, New Castle Pa. The annual Lincoln High School promenade will begin at 5:30. Doors open at 5:00 and tickets can be purchased at the door or in the High School Office. Ticket’s for this years promenade are $3.00 a piece and seating is first come first serve. Panthers, Danny Fox Shut Out New Brighton

Danny Fox had all the right stuff on Tuesday for the Riverside Panthers, allowing zero runs and besting New Brighton by a score of 10-0 Riverside tallied five runs in the third inning. Drew Speicher, Brian MacMurdo, Ty Thellman, and Fox each had RBIs in the big inning. Fox was the winning pitcher for Riverside, he went five innings, allowing zero runs on five hits and striking out six. Ellwood City Junior High Softball Team Runs Undefeated Streak to 7 Games

7 was the number of the day as the Lady Wolverines raised their record to 7-0 with a 7-0 victory over Laurel on the Spartan’s home turf. EC’s Angie Nardone and Laurel’s Grace Kissick were locked in a pitcher’s duel that saw the game scoreless until the top of the fourth with each team managing to get just 1 base runner.
