Jeff and Mary Sainato Wins Ellwood City 2018 Beautification Award

Mayor Court was honored to present the 5th 2018 Beautification Award on Saturday, to Jeff and Mary Sainato of Woodside Avenue. Along with a 2018 Beautification Award Winner sign, the Sainato’s received a gift certificate to a local restaurant. This is the 8th year for Mayor Court’s Beautification Award Program and it has been a huge success. There will be a total of 7 Winners in 2018, so if you know of someone that you feel should get this award, you can contact Mayor Court by phone, facebook or in person with your nomination.

PHOTOS: Ellwood City Festival

The Ellwood City Festival took place all weekend, there were competitions including the Little Miss Firecracker pageant and Ledger 10K race. Dia Rose Greco, daughter of Robert and Jennier Greco, was named the 2018 Little Miss Firecracker. She was dressed as a USO hostess and gave a salute to the crowd. Doug Petrik was the overall winner of the Ledger 10K race for the fourth consecutive year. His finish time was 35:35.6. Performances by local jazz, country and rock bands kept the music flowing all three days. The festival, as always, finished the weekend with fireworks provided by Zambelli International. Below…


Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of July 2

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Monday, July 2, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. This program is usually held on Wednesdays, but will meet on Monday mornings instead during the summer months. “Coloring for Adults” is a program designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information. Childrens Advocacy Center of Lawrence County Lego Party

The Childrens Advocacy Center of Lawrence County is holding a Lego Party on Saturday June 30. The event starts at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. at Cascade Park, Upper Level. Those attending will get free pizza, will be entered into a Pittsburgh Pirates ticket raffel and the first 200 kids get to take home a free Sebastian Gator lego set. People can also follow The Childrens Advocacy Center of Lawrence County on their facebook page.


Mayor Court Gives Fourth Beautification Award

On Thursday, Mayor Anthony J. Court was honored to presented to the 4th Beautification Award Winners, Kathy Kanich and Darlene Carcaise a 2018 Award Winner Sign to display in their yard and a local restaurant Gift Certificate.  


Ellwood City Festival Juried Art Show 2018 Winners

After a year of absence, the Juried Art Show has returned to the Ellwood City Festival. The Ellwood City Festival committee is pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 Juried Art Show. Taking Best of Show is Lynn Fletcher with her oil painting titled, “Hand Picked”.  Other winners are: 2D Distinguished-Beth Beiter, 3D Distinguished-Chris Ferruchi, Photography Distinguished-Jennifer Toman, 2D Merit-Grace Carroll Hufnagel, & Photography Merit-Lisa Greco.  In the children’s categories, Ali Gardner received a Merit award in the 10 & under category, and Hayden Slade received a Merit award in the 11-15 year old category.   As a special recognition for our men and women who put their lives on the…

Mayor Anthony J. Court was honored to present to the 2nd Beautification Award Winner a yard sign and a gift certificate for a local restaurant to Melissa Maddalon. Robert S. Tardiff, 64

Robert S. Tardiff, 64, of Ellwood City passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 following a lengthy illness. Robert was born on February 16, 1954 in Warwick, RI to the late John and Marilyn (Ruest) Tardiff. He had worked as a fabricator, welder, and foreman while living in Houston, TX. Robert enjoyed woodworking, doing yard work, and mostly enjoying life with others.
