The Riverside Panthers boys basketball team was defeated by Beaver Falls 68-39 Tuesday night.  Senior basketball players and cheerleaders were recognized as part of senior night festivities prior to the tip-off. Junior Ben Hughes finished with 11 points for the Panthers who could not overcome a 20-point first quarter outburst by the visiting Tigers. Jalen Vaughn (22 points) and Gage McKelvey (21 points) led the offensive output for Beaver Falls (9-11 overall). Investigations Continue to Ramp Up At Ellwood City Medical Center

According to a LeeDaily.com article and a local news report, information surfaced over the weekend that the Pennsylvania Department of Health is investigating possible code violations at Ellwood City Medical Center. During an inspection last week, it has been reported that state inspectors found large amounts of biohazardous waste stored improperly in a shed on the hospital grounds. On January 15, unconfirmed reports state that the biohazard disposal company was refusing to pick up the hospital’s waste because Americore had not paid them. Pre-Sell Ticket Information For Ellwood/Riverside Game

Ellwood City students will have the chance to purchase their student tickets, and adult tickets, during school from now until Friday at noon. The big rivalry game between Ellwood City and Riverside will be at Lincoln High School on Friday, February 8 with the varsity game tip off at 7:30 p.m. The game will be Ellwood’s senior night as well as a candlelight vigil for Kait Francis. Tickets will be on sale for $2.00 for a student ticket and $5.00 for adult tickets. It is important to note that there will not be student tickets sold at the doors on Friday….


PHOTOS: Seniors Shine In Section Victory Over Mohawk

The inside-outside duo of seniors Natalia Greco and Isabella Roth combined for 29 points to lead the Lady Wolverines to 51-39 senior night victory over Mohawk Monday night. Ellwood City Meals On Wheels Program Coming To An End

In a message released by Ellwood City Meals On Wheels (MOW) Officers to their clients and volunteers, it was announced this week the program will be coming to an end as of February 28, 2019. According to the release and in conjunction with the financial hardship of the hospital, the MOW has decided that it would be difficult to continue, citing that the hospital was not paying their food or milk bills, the company had frozen their account. “Some of the duties include almost volunteering 20 hours a week,” the statement reads. “This has taken a toll on some of…

The Yellow Ribbon Girls will be hosting a spaghetti dinner as a fundraiser to help with the monthly shipping costs on the care packages they mail around the world to our deployed troops “Each month between 80- 90 care packages are shipped.  Currently, we are shipping to 13 countries,” said Yellow Ribbon Representative, Bonnie Phillippi. Two Schools, One City, One Fundraising Cause

In light of our community’s tragic loss, the two rival schools have decided to come together and show support for the grieving family and friends of the late Kaitlyn “Kait” Francis. Showing their support, four students have stepped up and took on the task of making t-shirts to sell to students in a fundraising effort for the Francis family. A Californian pastor is bringing a new way to teach the word of God to Ellwood City. On Saturday, January 12, Chris Swales opened the doors of the new coffee shop The Badlands on Fifth Street near the underpass. Swales is a California native who had been a pastor for The Badlands Ministry in California.
