The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. PHOTOS: Panthers Air Attack Helps Defeat Valley On Senior Night

The Riverside Panthers used another air attack to defeat Valley Friday night, 24-14 on senior night. Ben Hughes threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns to lead Riverside (6-2) to the nonconference win against Valley (1-8). Nathan Sciarro caught eight passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns and added a 27-yard field goal. PHOTOS: Ellwood City Girls Volleyball Defeats Laurel On Senior Night

The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team capped senior night in victorious fashion, defeating the visiting Laurel Spartans Tuesday evening. Five Wolverine volleyball seniors were recognized before the match. After dropping the first set, Ellwood City rebounded with three consecutive set victories to take the match (19-25, 25-23, 25-26, 25-22) For the seniors, they experienced many wins and some losses on the playing court. They’ve left their blood, sweat, tears, and emotions on the court and they’ve learned how to compete with each other but still root for each other. 5th Annual R.O.A.R. Haunted Hayride and Maze Announced

The 5th Annual Haunted Hayride and Maze, sponsored by Riverside Outdoor Athletic Renovation (ROAR), has announced its dates for the year. Ride the hay wagon through the woods with scare stations throughout. New scenes and special effects from OMEGA FX will be on display. A walk-through maze is included with your admission. VIDEO: McDonald’s Re-Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

After a five-week closure for full renovations, the local McDonald’s restaurant reopened on Monday, October 7th with a VIP Breakfast and official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Guests of honor included PA State Rep. Aaron Bernstine, Mayor of Ellwood City, Anthony Court, Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Ellwood City Police Department. Riverside quarterback Ben Hughes made sure his last ‘RivEll’ game would be a memorable one. The senior tossed a career-high six touchdown passes to lead the Panthers to a 49-28 victory over Ellwood City Friday night as part of Riverside homecoming festivities. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) has issued the following statement in response to a recent article published by the New Castle News: “Clearly there are inconsistencies in the way the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole communicates with district attorney offices when reviewing the cases of violent inmates. I am thankful to Lawrence County District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa for his partnership on addressing these failures by the Parole Board that have harmed communities across Pennsylvania.
