Cory Michael Kinder, 32, of Pershing Street, Ellwood City, passed away at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, on Friday April 2, 2021. Born in New Castle on Aug. 25, 1988, he was the son of Michele Renee Kinder Caravella. Cory was a kind, special young man. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Ellwood City, include two sisters, Chelsea (Kyle) Lindey of Grove City and Cierra Caravella of Ellwood City; his grandparents, Mike and Peggy Kinder of Mercer; and two uncles, three nieces and two cousins. For twelve years the people of Lawrence County gave me the opportunity to serve as one of the County Commissioners. I am very grateful for that opportunity. In a rivalry game that saw two wild rallies and 30 combined hits, the Riverside Panthers responded last in its 15-13 road victory over Ellwood City on Saturday. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Amber Marie Russo, 30, of New Castle, is charged with one count of criminal mischief after police responded to a residence in Hickory Township, Lawrence County. According to a state police report, New Castle police responded to the residence on March 26 at midnight and, upon further investigation, discovered Russo had shattered a glass pane upon a window at the residence belonging to her former paramour, a 27-year-old male from New Castle. The Riverside Panthers softball team will be welcomed with an onslaught of younger, talented players this year according to head coach Gerilynn Cummings. Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County Hanging Ribbons For Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Every 73 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County is aiming to shed light on the problem in hopes of changing the narrative that affects 1 in 3 females and 1 in 4 males according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.
