Tar & Chipping Scheduled On Roadways In Franklin Township

Tar and chipping is tentatively scheduled for several roadways in Franklin Township beginning today. Township roadways to be worked on Friday, September 2nd include Greenwood Road, Lend Street, Lillyville Road, Phillis Drive, South Camp Road, South Tower Road, and Tara Drive. SPORTS: Wolverines Volleyball Opens Season With Victory, EC Tennis Defeated

Ellwood City Girls Volleyball has officially started for the Lady Wolverines as they defeated the Ambridge Bridgers in three straight sets to pick up the early season victory. The Wolverines came right out of the gate, having a double-digit lead in the first set, ultimately winning 25-19. Ellwood City did one better yet in the second set, winning 25-18 to go up two sets to none. Wampum American Legion Resuming Its All You Can Eat Breakfast Event

After a summer break, the Wampum American Legion Post 749 will be hosting its next All You Can Eat Breakfast on Saturday, September 17th. The group took a break in July and August and are back to serving breakfast for the community. September’s breakfast will be hosted at the Wampum American Legion Club, 436 Beaver Street, Wampum, PA. The breakfast is scheduled to take place from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and will feature scrambled eggs, hash browns, french toast, sausage, biscuits and gravy, bacon, and toast. Ellwood City Storytelling Festival Returns Next Month

Ellwood City Community Enrichment and the Ellwood City Area Public Library will be hosting Ellwood City’s Storytelling Festival on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 4:00pm – 7:30pm in Ewing Park, Ellwood City, PA. The festival is a beloved community event that features free activities for children and professional storytellers. All-American Reisinger Returns For Nationally Ranked BC3 Volleyball Squad

Ellwood City graduate Breanna Reisinger headlines a group of decorates starters returning to the The Butler County Community College volleyball squad this fall. Two All-Americans, a middle hitter selected to a national championship all-tournament team, and three other starters who as first-year players in 2021 led the Pioneers to a 12th consecutive winning season and a sixth-place national finish. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: On Wednesday, August 24th, at approximately 7:58 p.m., PSP New Castle responded to a reported trespassing on Rim Road, Slippery Rock Township. Upon arrive a 57-year-old Ellwood City female stated that an unknown male and female broke her antique ladder, valued at $800.00, that was hanging from the front porch of the residence. Clyde Houk, 81

Clyde Houk, 81, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away August 7, 2022. Born in Ellwood City PA to the late Paul &Betty (Schoen) Houk. Clyde was an Educator, from the age of 19 starting at Shenango Elementary, and many other schools from Colorado, Hawaii, Principal at Wampum Elementary and ended as a Gifted Coordinator in Ellwood City on retirement, Clyde was also a Organ and Keyboard player for many bands in the Ellwood City area. Lincoln High School Pie Festival, Riverside Panther Night This Week!

Both Ellwood City and Riverside school districts will kick off their respective back to school seasons with community events on Thursday, August 25th. Ellwood City will host its annual Lincoln High School Marching Blue Band Pie Festival at the high school gymnasium. Doors for the Pie Festival open at 6:00 p.m., and the show starts at 7:00 p.m..
