Lawrence County CTC Announces “Monster Mash” Collaboration

The Lawrence County CTC has announced their Commercial Arts program has recently partnered with the HOPE Center for Arts and Technology (HOPE CAT) in Sharon, PA for “Monster Mash” a collaborative exhibition with local elementary students. HOPE CAT collected drawings from elementary artists of monsters they dreamed up. Then a call to artists went out to over 50 professional artists to recreate the child’s monsters in their own style. Wilmington Hockey Earns First Victory Of Season, Defeats Central Valley 9-5

The Wilmington Hockey team defeated Central Valley 9-5 at Hess Ice Rink Monday evening, earning its first victory of the young season. On Monday, Andrew Cartwright (Union) and Noah King (Wilmington) each collected five points to lead Wilmington offensive charge. VIDEO: Worker Dies After Falling From Tree

A man died Tuesday in an accident while cutting down a tree on the 400 block of Division Avenue. According to reports, a tree branch fell loose and hit the ladder underneath him causing the man to dangle from a rope around 30 feet in the air. Ellwood City Fire Chief Rick Myers said he didn’t hit the ground but suffered cardiac arrest. He was hanging upside down for about 20 minutes until rescues could lower him to the ground. The man’s identity hasn’t been released. 


Bernstine Says House Fails to Override Governor’s Markie’s Law Veto

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania House of Representatives failed today to override Gov. Tom Wolf’s September veto of House Bill 146, authored by Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence), which focuses on the parole process for violent offenders in the wake of the 2019 murder of a child in Lawrence County. The measure needed a two-thirds majority (134 votes) to override the veto; 132 “yes” votes were cast. Every Republican House member voted “yes” to override the veto; however, some Democrats who originally voted in the affirmative, flipped their vote to support releasing violent criminals back onto our streets. Ellwood City Police Department will once again be participating in No Shave November where the officers will be allowed to grow beards for the month of November and December to raise money for cancer patients. BC3 Volleyball Wins Region 20 Crown, Earns Berth To North Carolina

On her final pass in her last home game, All-American Morgan Jack set up the kill Saturday that sent the No. 1-ranked Butler County Community College volleyball team to a district championship tournament in North Carolina and the setter to the top of BC3’s career list in assists. The kill by fellow All-American Breanna Reisinger completed BC3’s sweep of Howard Community College in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Region 20 championship tournament in BC3’s Field House. PHOTOS: Panthers Claim Playoff Spot During Senior Night Victory Over New Brighton

Riverside made easy work of the visiting Lions Friday night and claimed a playoff berth with their 52-7 blow out victory over New Brighton.
