Ellwood City Soccer Hosting Free Clinic

Interested in trying Soccer? The Ellwood City Soccer Boosters are hosting a FREE clinic for Ellwood City and Shenango students (including Cyber, Charter and Lincoln Park) currently in 8th-11th grade on Sunday, February 26, 2023. The clinic will be held at the Lincoln High School big gymnasium and will be led by BC United coaches and staff.  It is open to both male and female student athletes. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Jason Mulig, 47, of Ellwood City is charged with Criminal Mischief and Public Drunkeness after an incident on November 6, 2022. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 3:27 p.m., police officers were dispatched to the area of First Street, near Keystone Bar, due to Mulig jumping onto a victim’s car and damaging the hood. Upon reviewing surveillance, it showed Mulig walking from across Fountain Avenue and jumping onto the hood of the vehicle causing $2,388.13 in damage and then finished what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage and threw it into the side of the building….


EC Wrestling Team Finishes 12th Place, Shriver Takes 2nd In Mercer VFW Tournament

Sophomore Logan Shriver placed 2nd overall in his 107-pound weight class at the Mercer VFW Wrestling Tournament last week to help boost the Wolverines wrestling team to its 12th place overall finish. Shriver, a second year wrestler, secured a place in the championship match after he earned a 5-1 decision victory over Lexi Doerflinger (Slippery Rock) in the semifinals. Also earning a spot on a podium was sophomore Derek Allen, whom finished 3rd overall in the 114-pound weight class. Allen finished 3-1 in the tournament. Del-Mar Golf Club Named Among Golfers’ Choice Top 25 Most Improved Courses

In a recent NBC GolfPass article, Del-Mar Golf Club was among 25 courses that earned national recognition as golf courses making a comeback. “It is a tremendous honor to have the NBC Golfpass community recognize the efforts we have made,” says Samuel Barry, Del-Mar Golf Course President. “Continually earning higher ratings, by our costumers, is validation that Delmar is moving in the right direction.” According to the GolfPass.com article, the 25 courses earned higher ratings in 2022 than they did in 2021. Judith (Hooker) Lemsky, 79

Judith (Hooker) Lemsky of Birmingham, Alabama passed away Wednesday, January 18th 2023. The daughter of the late Harold W. Hooker and Mildred (Lewis) Hooker, Judie was born October 4th 1943 and raised in Ellwood City. A 1961 graduate of Lincoln High School, she moved to Birmingham in 1970. Living and working there she met her husband, they were married on September 2, 1972. Judie worked in commercial real estate development for many years before retiring in 2017. An avid dog lover, she was a volunteer for English Springer Rescue America (ESRA). She is survived by her husband Lee Andrew (Drew)…

The Ellwood City girls basketball team was busy this week with three games on the schedule. The Lady Wolverines collected its lone win of the week with a non-section road victory Wednesday night over New Castle. After trailing by nine entering the final quarter, Ellwood City rallied for a thrilling 48-47 victory. Claire Noble finished with a double-double (15 points, 15 rebounds, 3 steals) to lead a well rounded offensive attack for Ellwood City. Ellwood City Bocce Making Strides, Eyeing Playoffs

The Ellwood City Bocce team is making strides according to head coach John Dibuono. The team split decisions against Butler and Seneca Valley this past week. On January 10th the Ellwood City bocce team took on Butler. Butler prevailed in the matchup three games to one. The team faced Seneca Valley on Wednesday January 18th. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: On January 15th, an unknown actor attempted to make entry into a garage located on Ellwood Road, Slippery Rock Township. The unknown actor damaged a screen in the side window when attempting to make entry into the garage. The actor was unsuccessful and then left the scene on foot. Footprints were observed in the snow approaching the property from the north and were observed approaching each exterior window of the garage i an attempt to make entry.
