BC3 To Launch Radiologic Technology Program In 2027

Butler County Community College will establish in August 2027 a radiologic technology career program using contributed imaging equipment that will prepare students to enter a high-priority occupation in Pennsylvania and augment the hospital-like Victor K. Phillips Nursing and Allied Health Building on the college’s main campus in Butler Township. Ellwood City Baseball Starts Season With Home Victory

Ellwood City took care of business in their home opener on Friday afternoon, coming out on top against the Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers by a score of 5-1. Nate Kennedy struck out 10 batters over 5.1 innings to earn the victory. Kennedy allowed only three hits and one run. Cameron Mills made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mills was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

TERRORISTIC THREATS: Lorenzo Wells, 57, of Wayne Township, is charged with Simple Assault and Terroristic Threats after an incident on March 2nd. According to a criminal complaint, after a domestic dispute Wells threw a 58-year-old female victim to the ground, soaked her in gasoline, and threatened to set her on fire. The report relates that Wells screamed Greenwalt’s cancer medication had been making her “crazy” just before he allegedly doused her with gasoline and shouted that he was going to “burn her up.” The victim managed to get out of the house and call 911 but Wells left before police…

Douglas Allen Minteer, 69, of Bacliff, Texas passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026 in Bacliff. He was born July 1, 1956 in Ellwood City to Donald and Betty Minteer. Douglas graduated from Riverside High School with the class of 1974. He married Patricia Ann Gavrile of Ellwood City on June 8, 1982 and who passed away March 7, 2025. Douglas worked at the former Calgon Plant in Ellwood City prior to moving to Texas. He retired 4 years ago from Universities Science and Research in Houston, Texas. Riverside Swimming Makes Splash At WPIAL Championships, Relay Team Qualifies For PIAA

The Riverside swimming team was well represented at the 2026 AA WPIAL Swimming/Diving Championships held at Trees Pool on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh this past weekend. Four Panthers had successful showings highlighted by Peter Ruggeri and Nate Goff who each earned medals in their respective meets Ruggeri placed 6th place in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 56.38 while Goff placed 7th place in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.48.
