New Artificial Shrubs Placed In Lawrence Avenue Planters

The Borough of Ellwood City and the Ellwood City Revitalization have combined efforts to bring some new beautification to downtown. In June, the Borough of Ellwood City received a $2,000.00 2023 National Pennsylvania Day Mini Grant that was used to assist with costs to replace planter boxes along Lawrence Avenue. Cam Boydell smacked two home runs to power Ellwood City past Shenango 5-2 in the 72nd Ellwood City Little League Tournament on Wednesday night. Boydell rapped a solo home run in the third inning and belted a two-run homer in the fifth inning. Boydell also combined on a one-hitter with Joey Nardone to lead Ellwood City to the winner’s bracket final. Final 2023 Beautification Award Winner Announced

Mayor Anthony J. Court presented the final winner of 2023 Beautification Award to Sue Blythe on Joffre Street. “Sue’s hard work has not gone unnoticed, her yard looks amazing,” said Mayor Court in an emailed statement. Sue was awarded with a yard sign to display and a gift certificate to a local restaurant. This concludes the awards for the 2023 season. Registration Now Available For Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation Fall Ball

Registration is now available for the Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation’s (ECABF) 2023 Fall Ball season. The season will be six to eight weeks at four area locations with four levels of league play. The season is schedule to take place August 26th/27th until October 20th/21st. Field locations include Friedhoff Field, Ellwood City; Rosannah Field, Ellwood City; Shenango Athletic Complex, New Castle; and Union Fields, also in New Castle. Franklin Township To Host 10th Annual National Night Out Event

Come on out and mingle with fellow community members! Franklin Township will be holding their 10th Annual National Night Out Event on Tuesday, August 1st, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Franklin Plaza in Ellwood City. There will be free activities for children, fire safety, CPR training, prize giveaways, and food vendors. Ruth Mae Assalone, 88

Ruth Mae Assalone, 88, of Kennerdell, Rockland Township, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, July 15, 2023. She was born in Fombell, Beaver County on April 24, 1935 to the late Phillip and Treva (Raisley) Ketterer. She was married to Vincent E. Assalone on June 25, 1952 while on a three day pass from the Air Force. They celebrated 71 years of marriage. Ruth loved spending time with her family, playing games (especially when she was beating her husband and her great-granddaughter, Adriann), building puzzles, reading Amish books, and of course, being on Facebook and watching Fox News….
